Whose idea was it to let geeks decide championships. The nerds that wouldn't know a football if it got rammed up their @ss somehow have input.

And how exactly does this system make more sense than a playoff?

Not to worry, by the time ND plays Tenn. they will be in top 10. Big games to come.

Jesus, what a joke. The AP is the only poll out there that gave us any respect.

tennessee will be 4-3 after they get beat by alabama this week. byu is 3-3. although losses might move us up in the voted polls, those wins won't be a huge help in the bcs picture.

The AP is the only poll I've ever looked at. But as with the rest of the polls, who cares where we're ranked, because if we win out. There will be no stopping us from getting in a BCS bowl game.

ND #16 In BCS Standings

Computers cause ND about 6 slots.

That's because every team we've played is going to crap. Washington, Pitt, Michigan, Purdue and even Michigan St. are all sucking this year. And BYU, Navy and Syracuse are no help. God forbid we lose to Tennessee, which I don't think will happen. We're going to get stuck in the Sun Bowl or something. I hate the BCS...always have. Playoffs is the only way.

Unfortunately, Albuquerque "Isotopes" Irish is saying what I've been thinking for the past two weeks.

UW sucks. Pitt sucks. UM appears to be .500, Purdue sucks and MSU lost to Ohio State and UM. The rest of the schedule are poor teams. That said, Notre Dame should and must win out. 9-2 would give them a chance at the BCS, but there isn't any guarantee of it. There are eight spots and four go to the five conference champions. That leaves three at large spots.

ND just needs to win one step at a time. If they remain healthy, they'll be fine the rest of the way.

I'm still hacked off about these computer polls. If you look at ND ranking in each of the individual geek-o-matic polls ND isn't ranked in two of them - Richard Billingsley and Kenneth Massey - ranked 25th in two - Anderson & Hester and Colley Matrix - and ranked 23 by Jeff Sagarin and 22 by Peter Wolfe (lead singer of J Giles Band?).

Give me a physical break. A complete and total travishamockery.

Read this crap. Better wrap some duct around your because it'll freakin' explode: http://prwolfe.bol.ucla.edu/cfootball/descrip.htm#three

Or this sh#t: http://www.masseyratings.com/theory/massey.htm

head didn't explode yet, try this geeks ramblings:
http://www.colleyrankings.com/#wes Impressive sports background @sswipe, you watched football games and can do complex math. Well wowee shit! We better let you decide the college football's national champion. This jackass has Georgia ranked #1 and Stanford in front of ND. WTF? How much credibility does that have.

Two freakin syllables: playoff. ARRGHHHH! this drives me nuts!

And Double ARRRGHHH! Freakin' Stanford lost to UC Davis. UC Davis I didn't even know they played football.

I think at the worst we land in the Gator Bowl.

Actually this is the worse we can do. If you recall earlier in the year ND signed a contract with the Gator Bowl people, saying that if ND does not get a BCS bid they will play in the Gator bowl.
Which is good for me because I live 10 minutes away from the stadium, but I would much rather see the team in a BCS bowl game.

I'll take any one of three bowls for the Irish this year: Orange, Sugar or Gator. If it's in driving range of my part of Florida, I AM THERE.

i would love to see them in a BCS bowl as well ....dont get me wrong but the Gator Bowl is pretty good, isn't that usually the ACC #2 overall?

Could be a great matchup

I'd like to see them actually WIN a bowl game, regardless of where it is.

Haven't won one since the first Clinton term.

During the VT v Maryland game Thursday night Tirico was touting Auburn and noted their "big win over South Carolina". With the exception of their loss to GT, Auburn has played a bunch of nobodies, Miss St, Ball St, SCAR, ARK, and Div II Western Kentucky and they've played all but one game, ARK, at home.

The revelance to ND?

Auburn is ranked HIGHER ,#23, than ND, #25, in the BCS computer rankings based on more wins. These charlatans should be exposed in Baton Rouge this weekend.

The BCS system gave Auburn .120 computer points and ND .050. With another .07 points (the difference between Auburn and ND) ND would be up two places to #14.

Sagarin ranks ND's schedule #1, the toughest and Auburn's #90. ND's opponents are almost 2 touchdowns tougher than Auburn's. ND's average opponent per Sagarin's Rating is the strength of Tennessee or Nebraska. Auburn's average opponent is the strength of Utah or Marshall.
