Here's the NCAA Recruiting Calendar which covers now through Signing Day, February 2, 2006. The full calendar can be found at the link.
(b) November 27, 2005, through January 28, 2006: Contact Period
[except for (1) though (5) below]. Six in-person off-campus contacts per prospective student-athlete shall be permitted during this time period with not more than one permitted in any one calendar week (Sunday through Saturday) or partial calendar week:
(1) December 18, 2005: Quiet Period
(2) December 19, 2005, through January 1, 2006: Dead Period
(3) January 8, 2006: Quiet Period
(4) January 9-12, 2006, with the exception: Dead Period
Institutional staff members may have contact with a prospect who has been admitted for mid-year enrollment, provided the prospect has signed a National Letter of Intent or other offer of admission and/or financial aid to attend the institution and is required to be on campus to attend institutional orientation sessions for all students.
(5) January 13-14, 2006: Quiet Period
(c) January 29, 2006: Quiet Period
(d) January 30 through February 2, 2006: Dead Period

NCAA Recruiting Definitions

Contact period - permissible for authorized athletic department staff members to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.

Dead period - not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on- or off-campus or permit official or unofficial visits.

Evaluation period - permissible for authorized athletics department staff to be involved in off-campus activities to assess academic qualifications and playing abililties. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts with a prospect are permitted.

Quiet period - permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution's campus.

I just love this stuff. Brings me back to grad school....and high school.

What I love even more is how many schools actually follow these guidelines. You'd be surprised as to how many don't even pay attention to this stuff.

Notre Dame, I'm sure, is probably well aware of these periods of time.
