This is a must read for all of you who think that USC has been getting away with bloody murder for years. It's just a joke how the university won't even investigate itself, and how the NCAA has all of this public info against USC and yet still refuses to do anything (IMO, they're just waiting until U$C finally falters and is less of a cash cow for them). With the L.A. Times finally ending their silence, will the NCAA finally do the same???

As always, Thanks for the update NDinLA. Them cheating lying SOBs that are heads of the USC athletic department need to step up and take responsibility for what they have done...... We could probably get all the recruits in the good ol US of A if we could say we can give them whatever they want. Houses, cars, women, you name it. But we stand for something better, a clean respectable program.

... IMO, they're just waiting until U$C finally falters and is less of a cash cow for them ...

I thought the article made that point but how is USC a cash cow for them? The NCAA manages and gets a cut of March Madness but I don't think they get a cut of bowl games, do they?

Restricting TV games hurts fans of the other teams seeing the game but that's always been the case since they started TV bans. But again the NCAA doesn't share in TV revenue, do they?

I'm not challenging your comment rather trying to understand how the NCAA loses money. They don't make a cut off clothing, TV or bowls, I thought.

And with as many games as are on TV today fans could still watch a variety of college games just not USC and the opponent of the week. One approach could be to ban USC home games only. Still hurts the visiting team but I don't see an option to that.

I also don't buy comments that a one year ban on play, a "Death Penalty". People point at SMU and say look how many years it's been and they're still suffering. Well look at USF and a dozen or more programs that didn't own a football when SMU got nailed. If they could rise from nothing why can't a SMU, USC, or any other team getting that penalty.

While it doesn't seem that the allegations swirling around the U$C program have hurt their football program, they have really hurt the basketball program. They just lost yet another recruit, one of the top players in the nation. This quote from the player's dad says it all:

“There’s a cloud over the program from the (O.J.) Mayo stuff to the (Reggie) Bush stuff,” Johnson’s father said. “We thought it would go away, but it kept reoccurring. When your kid is going away to school, especially as a freshman, you want him to start with a clean sheet and not all of these allegations. I’m not saying they are true or false, you just don’t want to be under that umbrella.”

Here's the entire article:

NDinLA, I say you, me, and about three other Socal IrishEnvy members get together and place tempting things on the USC players' doorsteps. Ignorant fresman girls, ignorant freshman boys, drugs, guns, police cruisers, etc.. If the NCAA doesn't want to handle the USC situation, I say we can.

I suppose im in but ill probably just end up taking the ignorant freshman girls.

Plus i dont care if they get sanctioned or not. it will be that much sweeter to whoop them knowing that they are sacrificing everything the school stands for in the name of football.
I don't wanna beat USC, i want to embarass them.

...

I want them sactioned. I want the win they stole off the field as well as on the field. They stole one in '64 that cost a National Championship. I want the forfeit's for using an ineligible player just like Bama got, and a bunch of other teams got through the years by the NCAA.

They cheated just like UCLA cheated in Basketball during the Wooden years. Wooden knew it just like Carroll knows it. I think Carroll like Wooden is very good if not great coach but it's easier to be great when you have an illegal advantage.

NCAA might finally show its teeth with USC's case | Sporting News

Watch out, USC. Some influential folks in the NCAA are yearning to hammer a school that has strayed from its rules on recruiting and/or academics. So if what's published about Reggie Bush turns out to be the truth, the Trojans will be the first major football program in at least five years to face serious sanctions.

I love how the LA Times article calls itself a "Special Report", even though it was basically a rehashing of the actual journalism done by Yahoo Sports.
