Don’t know how many people here enjoy motorsports but I thought if there’s anyone here that does this could be a cool place to all about the goings on & the upcoming races from all across motorsports. Whether you like NASCAR, Indycar, Forumla 1, IMSA, Motocross, or anything in between this is the thread for you.

109 days until the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

My stepdad is a big racing fan…big reason why they live in Daytona during the cold months, then back to Indy when it gets warm again.

My parents are staying in New Smyrna until mid March. I surprised my dad with tickets to the Daytona 500. It will be the first time he has been able to go.

Im a Notre Dame fan through & through but the Purdue marching band playing “Back Home Again in Indiana” always brings tears to my eyes.

It’s all about sprint car dirt track racing. If you’ve never been it’s one of the best experiences in all of sports.

What’s that like? I know it takes a lot of athletic skill to be on a pit crew but what is race prep & race day like for a crew member?

This. Still watch Larson in Na$car, but i fell off them when Earnhardt died. Everyone else was programmed marketing machines....except for later years Tony Stewart. I'm old enough to of watched Gordon, Stewart and Newman all coming up through midgets and sprints. Still go with the old man every year to the 4 crown at Eldora

You have flosports? Good lord the amount of racing they have is incredible. Never made it out to the chili bowl, but they cover every race from it

You’ll find @Irish#1 at the Kitley Speedrome every weekend wearing his Dale senior hat sipping on cans of PBR in one hand while stroking his mullet with the other.

We go to Eldora for the Kings Royal. Want to get out for the 4 Crown. Growing up in NE Ohio and Pa we were more about the wings than the Indiana non-wings. Both are fun to watch though.

I still watch nascar but haven’t really been into it since Jr retired. The low horsepower with the championship format sucks.

100% agree. Everyone whined the year Kenseth won it instead of newman, but when you have double digit DNFs...consistency wasn't your friend

I grew up 5 minutes away from Sharon Speedway in Hartford Ohio. Track is owned by the Dave Blaney. It’s not even close to being the best watch. I saw Larson rip it there a few years back and it just boggled my mind.

Is DirtVision pretty much the same except you get the Outlaws instead of High Limit?
Yeah you get the Outlaws both late mods and sprints. Tbh I’m a bigger fan of the outlaws for no reason other than I’m a fan of Sheldon Haudenschild. If you pay for the DirtVision year pass you also get the Knoxville Nationals.

I'll have to look into it. Can't go without flo since I can watch AHL and ECHL games. Gotta keep up with the Komets

IoM is the sh!t and the most dangerous race in the world. Watch the vids of that race and it'll get you going. Also, MotoGP is some serious racing too. Love that stuff. Cars, I'd have to go with WRC as an exciting event.

The nascar points format is despite allowing more drivers to win it feels like the old BCS format of college football because it harms the legitimacy of the championship.

It could be very hectic at times, but most of the work to car was ready to go before we arrived at track, unless there was a backup car needed. We had to set up pits, and then wait. Traveling took more out of you then anything. I was working a full time job, taking college classes a couple days a week, then gone about 27 weekends a year. I’m a home body now!

I worked with CART and Champ Car for 8 years mid 90's to early 2000's. On the Technical Committee, responsible for track. pit lane set up, inspection, tire stamping, and Pit Observer during on track activity. Also ran radar at Pit IN and Pit out.

If you have the chance, go see races at Elkhart Lake, WI at Road Americal track. 4+ mile road course through the Kettle Moraine and woods. Very fan friendly. Races include Indy Car, Super Bikes, NASCAR, IMSA. Another great road course in Barber Motorsports on east side of Birmingham, AL. Fantastic motorcycle museum there, too.

I'm partial to rally racing. We did a lot of this back on the farm in Minnesota. Early 80's Honda Civic. Raced it around the farm until it started on fire.
