USC hired a special teams 'consultant' last year, which is against NCAA rules governing the amount of coaches a team can have. I like this quote in particular:

He (Rodriguez, the new consultant) said Carroll "knew what I could do and what I couldn't do. He said, 'We have to be very careful.'

Petey knew what he was doing was borderline against the rules, but he did it anyways. In the end, this is probably a minor infraction, but combined with the current investigation, it's just not good timing for U$C. Of course, I'm sure nothing will come of this too...

In addition to that, I saw on ESPN News last night/this morning that Frankie Telfort will not be able to play football in college. During his physical, they found he had some sort of heart condition.

Feel sorry for the kid... but I enjoy the hole it puts momentairly in the development of their Frosh LB Corps.

it is sad to here about Telfort. hopefully he can hold onto his scholly and get an education.

the artice makes it seem like sneaky pete is testing the "gray area". once again it will be interesting to see if the NCAA slaps SC on the wrist. I think that is all that could come out of this incident.. However, you better believe the NCAA is going to take note of this as the investigation continues involving Bush and Mayo. As minor as it sounds, SC is not improving their situation. if there is smoke, why add fuel to the fire? It is the arrogance of Pete Carroll that is going to be the downfall of USC's run.
