Those of you who have read my posts know that I do not make up rumors. I just wanted to pose this to the board in case anyone heard anything.

One of my co workers, a WVU grad, came up to me today and asked what is going on with your basketball coach. Of course I said I have no idea what you are talking about. He then told me a rumor that was on a WVU board about Brey resigning because he was caught fooling around with some local news reporter.

I did a little online research and have found this rumor on several other message boards, but nothng even close to being concrete or reliable.

The only reason I bring this up is to see if anyone who lives locally in South Bend has heard this, or maybe knows the TV reporter in question.

Again I am not rumor mongering, just seeing if anyone knows anything more. My hunch was Brey just wouldnt do anything like this, hell he isnt even good looking enough to pull it off, but I guess these days you never know.

Mods if no one else has heard anything please feel free to close.

I have also heard this rumor. It's been over a month, though, since i've heard anything more about it til reading this post. Hopefully there isn't any truth and Brey won't be stepping down. If i'm a female news anchor, there is no way to resist a man with such an assortment of mock turtlenecks!

I heard a rumor that donkeys bray.

EDIT

I did a quick search, and found a Cincinnati forum board from a month ago that mentions a scandal. The other two or three sites I looked at are simply message boards from other teams. The rumor about him stepping down were heavy yesterday.

The only fact I read about is that the lady was fired. (Terry Tate's post beneath was my first link. He posted before this edit.)

WNDU anchor arrested in Mishawaka | WSBT - News, Weather, Sports South Bend | Local News

Speaking of Notre Dame and Local news anchors...

"According to the police report, Zorich was the one to call police. Officers arrived just before 2:30 and say Logan was uncooperative and belligerent. Zorich was not arrested.

Police say Logan had a blood alcohol level of .11.

Logan's attorney released a statement saying she unequivocally denies any wrongful conduct. It claims that after feeling endangered, Logan called police for help.

WNDU Management says Logan has been fired."

.11?!?! That's it? That wasn't the booze talking, that was just a crazy lady.

I know this isn't reliable because I just made the account today, but I'm along time follower of this site.

For what it's worth I heard this too. I got a call from my mom (lives in knollwood, Granger IN) about a month ago and since my family is huge ND fans she told me about the local neighborhood gossip between the women, and supposedly one of these women knows the reporter, and she told that Mike Brey might resign/get fired over this.

But that's all i heard, this is the first I've heard of anyone else hearing about it

Well, make yourself reliable. Give full names, addresses, and phone numbers of all spreading the information.

Otherwise...YIKES WHAT A STORY. lol.

I really see no reason to fire the coach, unless he did something against school policy. Who would you hire?

I can add this. I live in Granger, Indiana. A couple to a few weeks ago, my wife heard the rumor at the hospital at which she works as a nurse. The reporter in question is Erin Logan from WNDU tv here in South Bend. Today, I saw several posts on message boards about Brey supposedly resigning today (Monday) or tomorrow. My question is this: if true, why would he resign now and not earlier? Do you think Notre Dame would force him out? Morally, Notre Dame is a mixed bag if they do. That would mean they forced out someone who cheated on moral/ethical grounds. Yet, this same "moral" and "ethical" institution allowed a pro abortion speaker at commencement.

Wait, the same anchor is involved with Zorich and Brey?

I have read that Brey has a morality clause in his contract and that an action like this would force him out.

Again at this point it seems unfounded, but it is interesting to hear what you and others who live locally have heard.

The University has a morality clause about random forum message boards?

Welcome aboard Hoosier.

Heard this very same rumor on a subscription site last week, and that he would be resigning today. Had forgotten about it until I saw this thread. We'll see if it has legs within a few days I guess...

I am from the area of notre dame and to add on to the rumors that you all have heard, I heard all of the same that you guys are talking about, but I also heard that notre dame is waiting for Brey to find another coaching job in order for it to look like he just left rather than firing him or him resigning. I can see this being true because of the respect the university has shown him over the past years with the limited success he has had with his underacheiving teams.

I think they will cover it up quite well

FWIW.....I find it interesting that Gene Cross, ex-Brey assistant, recently resigned from University of Toledo head coaching position, after it became well known that he was having multiple affairs with married women in the Toledo area.

Hmmm?

Not a snowball's chance in hell Stevens would go to a lesser program. He turned down 3.5 million a year at Oregon. He's not going to ND.

Fire Brey because he's a terrible coach, but because he's banging an average looking reporter.
