I was just reading some posts on spartan tailgate and they talk a lot of trash. I am sort of surprised that ND opened up as an 8.5 point dog. I thought it would be like 4. I was tempted to sign up for that Spartan site and start running my mouth but i didnt. They basically called ND fans delusional and how they cant weat to see green paint allover ND's gold helmets.

As long as we can control Javon Ringer, we can win this game going away. We aren't Florida Atlantic.

They had trouble with Flordia Atlantic...I am looking forward to seeing what our Defenese does against a "normal" offense. We had the pass 95% of the time SD State and spread happy Mich so this should be a nice change. I think we get our run game going this week. ND 31 MSU 17

Whoever said it said it right. The key to beating MSU will be to absolutely minimize Y.A.C. for Ringer.

They always play us tough no matter who is playing or coaching for them. I have always hated them but ever since the planting of the flag at our home It has gotten worse.

You know we will see a heavy dose of Ringer. Maybe Toyrian Smith will see more time? From everything I've heard, he is at his best at stopping the run.

We are going to have a much better time against the MSU offense. The D line not getting to the QB much yet has a lot to do with how fast the QB's we've played have gotten rid of the ball. Hoyer is not that fast and our DB's will have some great opportunities when he does get the ball off. I think this is the game our D line starts to really produce something other than just intangibles. I think we get 3 to 5 sacks this game with a bunch of hurries and batted balls. Keep Ringer down as much as you can, but if he goes for 250 in a loss - who cares? Get the win and keep moving. I am not as concerned about Ringer beating us by himself. Obliterate Hoyer and keep the receivers from making big plays and we win this game.

My prediction - ND 38 MSU 20

According to und.com, ABC is carrying it. Which means us folks on the West Coast are probably screwed. :(

Does anybody know what part(s) of the country will not be able to see the game on ABC? Also, If I can not get the game, is there a way I can order it?

I don't know about up there in Portland, but here in Orange County, they show the game will be on regular ABC Channel 7 at 12:30 Pacific. It does not show any alternate games.

You are the ultimate optimist my friend! Hey, at least you give plausible reasons for your prediction. You're absolutely right, our D Line needs to produce. However, based on performance I don't see that happening. But I'll be hoping beyond all hope that they come through!

I think our D will have their best game of the season. For the first time in a long time our strength on D is our secoundary. We will get to the QB with the blitz and make them make mistakes. As long as our Offense can hold on to the ball and get our D some rest we should be good. I am not too versed on Mich St's D but I think we should be able to move the ball. Ringer is the key to the game but I think we can limit him b/c Brown and Tunuta will have a great plan. ND 24-10

I don't know if I am the ultimate optimist, but I will be positive about my teams no matter what. In addition to rooting for the Irish, I also root for the Los Angeles Kings, so I have taken quite a few lumps for my optimism over 30+ years!

I think we will see more production from the D line this Saturday because they won't have to be as wary of Hoyer taking off on them. I think they put the reigns on the defensive front in the first two games and they will just open them up for MSU. I really think the plan the first two games was to disrupt not necessarily get sacks and to stay home and not over extend into the backfield. Against MSU, I really think Hoyer will be running for his life all day.

We will beat MSU by 2+ touchdowns.

31 ND - 14 MSU

Huh? What? WOWSER! I'm not sold on us being that good yet. In my personal opinion we are the worst 2-0 team. We havent proved anything yet. Sure we capitalized on 7 turnovers from Michigan but we still havent produced any offense at all. I'm not trying to be negative but if we are to beat Msu it wont be 31-14 thats for sure. Unless they turn the ball over like Michigan did.

We are getting better week by week. If this were last year we would definately be 0-2. So thats a positive in my book. I have to go with the Spartans on this one with Ringer rushing for 224 yards 3 touchdowns.

So you say ND will score 24 points and I say 31 (only 1 td + extra point difference).

The O-Line is getting better and has great pass protection. The running backs are starting to hit the holes with power and it is setting us up nice for big passing plays. Our D is playing better and I truely feel that they will cause some turnovers and pressure MSU's QB.

I am not worried about Ringer. He will score 2 touchdowns but I believe those will the their only points.

Why is hard to believe that ND can and will limit MSU to 2 touchdowns? It's not like I said the score will be 31 - 3. Now that I could find hard to believe.

I didnt say anything about us not being able to score. I said that "if we do win it wont be 31-14".

And our defense is getting better you say? 408 total yards to a very young and inexperienced Michigan team is "Better?". Giving up 136 yards rushing to a true freshman is "Better?". Still no sacks for our defense is "Better?"

And I do agree our line is getting better but we still cant run the ball worth shit. Yeah they havent given up a sack but Sam MacGuffy had more rushing yards than our whole team.

We have a LONG way to go my friend. a LOOOOOONG way to go.

Wow, someone else who actually shares my point of view.. Thats refreshing. I'm really not sure what game a lot of people were watching, but without those 6 turnovers + some shoddy calls against Michigan, we lose that game.

Our best game plan is to stick 9 in the box and pray that Ringer pulls a hammy.

All of the pass protection in the world means squat, if you have mediocre, at best, receivers.
The running backs are starting to hit the holes with power and it is setting us up nice for big passing plays.

And yet they still can't do better than <3.5 yards a carry. The running game is going to have to get MUCH better, before it starts setting up passing plays.

Better than what? Last year? That's not saying much at all. Like you, I think they will be able to pressure MSU's QB. But pressure isn't enough. They need to knock the guy around some. Something that they haven't been able to do yet.

I am not worried about Ringer. He will score 2 touchdowns but I believe those will the their only points.

You should be worried about him. He's the 3rd leading rusher in the nation, coming into this game. He's got size, speed, and power. If someone in the front seven doesn't start taking control, he's going to have a big game.
Why is hard to believe that ND can and will limit MSU to 2 touchdowns? It's not like I said the score will be 31 - 3. Now that I could find hard to believe.

Because the defense has not shown the ability to stop anyone with regularity. Mo Crum is probably the closest thing to a playmaker that the defense has. If you watch the games, most of his plays are made 5+ yards downfield. That's a HORRIBLE sign!!

I will hope and pray for a strong defensive outing against MSU, but I won't expect it.

i disaggre here we have bruton and smith, also our dbs have made some great plays the defense isn't horrible, a couple of you guys on this board are making it seem like winning this game will be near impossible!

last year this game was 17-14 at the half, and we just didn't come out to play the 3rd and 4th quarters, i believe this game will be different.

Florida State is now ranked and has beaten Western Carolina and UTC, both Southern Conference schools. They are the most unproven worst 2-0 team.

we will get back to back shut outs! ND your only bright spot on offence is grimes and he might not play! otis will get a few turnovers and maybe take a punt back (cause you guys will be punting all day), miller and martin will man-handle that weak defensive front, and lets not mention the day dell and cunningham will have..... ND nation just dont watch this game, because the spartans are true warriors and are ready for some fresh kill!!

If you are going to come here and talk trash at least get your facts straight. Grimes is our #4 WR. Golden Tate and Michael Floyd have been the brightest spots. Your team is almost as unpredictable as Clemson. You are probably living in your mother's basement and 35 years old, b/c that is the kind of loser it would take to come on an ND board and run your mouth. I would do it to a Mich St board but A. I am not a loser B. They probably do not know how to use computers so there is no way they have a board. Enjoy getting kicked off.

That's it - strip away any and all credit from the players on the field? That completely diminishes the hard work these young men put in day in and day out on the practice field, in the weight room, and the classroom. They made the most out of opprotunities presented to them whether it was turnovers or not. That is part of the game. What gives you the right to say the players don't deserve any of the credit for the win?

I thought the Michigan fans were bad for making excuses about losing, but I think its worse to see ND fans making excuses about why we WON.

My question to you Phork is this: Have you every played major college athletics? If the answer is "no", then you have zero right to strip away any credit from the players for a win.

If you have been an athlete at the college level, then I give you a little more latitude. Because unless you intimately understand (and not just think you understand) what it takes on a daily basis in a major college athletic program (not to mention the highest profile college program in the land) you cannot say they did not earn that win or any other win, for that matter.

Our boys deserve a lot more praise than I have seen them receiving here. I don't care how "sloppy" a win is or how many statistical categories we don't excel in, the bottom line is the team paid the price in the Spring, summer, and all week leading up to the game. A victory is credited to the team alone and no one else.
