That's interesting, b/c that's something else ESPN got wrong.

Side note: During the game Samardzija caught a pass and the announcer said it was Mike O'Hara. None of these guys know what they're talking about.

Now, Harris is a walk-on (#36), and I do remember him playing last week. Rob Woods is a walk-on and a receiver, and he was dressed as well (though I don't remember him playing).

Has Hord seen the field yet? I thought they might be red-shirting him.

I don't think Weis has made a decision to red shirt anyone. He has said more true frosh will play this year

Q. Before these guys got on campus, did you have any idea who might be ready, anybody you thought would play early?

COACH WEIS: No. But we knew that this year with the number of guys that we have on scholarship, we knew that this year a lot of these guys, that if they played well, were going to get their selves into the mix. We just didn't know who. We just knew they were getting an opportunity to play themselves into the mix and many of them have.

And there's more coming. Because we played eight of them so far, and it would not surprise me if more of them end up seeing time than that.

ALSO: Below quote re: Shelton

Q. (Matt) Shelton, is he pretty much close to a hundred percent right now?

COACH WEIS: He was close in the first game. Just the game didn't force me to get into that situation. But I'm glad he's sitting there waiting in the wings and chomping at the bit. He's chomping at the bit. He just bit.

Other reports I have seen (I think on B&G's website) say that Hord's not up to snuff on receiving drills in practice, and may be further away from playing than initially thought.

I can hardly recall seeing Shelton on the field in the first two games and Samardzjia has two TDs this year already.

But yes, with the multiple sets we'll see both guys anyway. Still, another thin area on this emaciated roster. This will be the time for Stovall to step up. He made the cover of SI in 2002 against MSU...why not again?

That would be great to see Stovall have a breakout game....again.

If there was ever going to be a breakout game for Stovall this year I think this would be it, Home Opener......put into more valuable role b/c of Mcknight's injury.....Past success against MSU.....Spartan CB's nothing to special.

Clearly, David Grimes is ahead of DJ Hord based on his PT Saturday and his big catch in the 4th quarter.

They have 2 WR committed already and are hoping for a few more. McKnight, Shelton and Stovall are all gone after this year.

Grimes looks good. He will just need more reps. Hord will be a contributor, but when?

If we have more injuries at WR, C-Dub may be may be forced to play Hord. It was scary when Shelton went down during MSU game.

Looks like the Irish are going to land Terrence Austin from Long Beach Poly. My boys from Rockhurst tell me Phillip Strozier will go Irish although he is being earmarked as a CB.

The way McKnight was walking on the sidelines this week I think he is gone longer then we think, I heard up there was a cartilage tear.

Austin and Richard Jackson would both be nice. I've heard Strozier is leaning toward ND, but there were issues? I can't recall if it was grades or ND wanted tape of the first couple of games....

Does anyone feel that CW is not telling the whole truth here? Part of me is Excited that McKnight will come back at some point during the season, but part of me is saying that the injury is worse than stated and that CW is saying this so that teams will game plan for McKnight. I don't know fellas! I hope that is the first scenario though.

Apparently you missed Weis' introduction press conference. Weis does not care if the players leg is broken or their is a blister on his right index finger, the answer to any injuries are day-to-day....period.

Missed that press conference WeisGuy, but thanks for the info. That's why he is the coach, and I get hammered during the game! WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!

He was limping on the sidelines and I was told that he had been seen around campus on a crutch during the week.

I wish they had McKnight, but that injury opened the door for Stovall and Samardzija big time.

I'd like to see Matt Shelton make some plays, though.

Day to Day is a very "Belichick" thing to say. He is notorious for less than accurate injury reports. Same goes for Parcells. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
