Whatever, man. You know May will take every opportunity he can to throw ND under the bus. UCLA is not a cupcake game. Air Force just improved they aren't cupcakes. He's double-minded. He was all over Colt McCoy in the first game, raving about him showing poise against a 1-AA opponent. At least, we stay away from the 1-AA opponents.

Dont even listen to what mark may says! He's an extreme idiot (ie hes a pitt boy) He's the same guy who said last year that we would start 0-5. He doesnt know what he's talking about and I dont consider michigan state a cupcake considering they own us as of late. also ucla is not a cupcake as with north carolina who is a team on the rise, and you can never take away anything from stanford. Cupcake huh? He's the cupcake.

Next 8 games:

Michigan State - 2-0, but struggled to beat Idaho and gave up 20 points to Eastern Central Michigan Tech A&M.

Purdue - 2-0, but opened against I-AA Indiana State and then needed overtime to beat Miami... of Ohio, that is.

Stanford - 0-2 after losses to Oregon and San Jose State, with a realistic shot of losing to Navy later today.

UCLA - 2-0, but opened against a depleted Utah and then looked less-than-impressive against Rice.

Navy - 2-0 after close wins against the mighty football powerhouses of East Carolina (5 points) and Massachusetts (1 point).

North Carolina - 0-2. Lost to Rutgers, then got demolished by Virginia Tech. Oh, and lost to Rutgers. And I almost forgot, they lost to Rutgers too. RUTGERS!

Air Force - 0-1, and yet by taking Tennessee to the wire, they look better to me than every one of the 2-0 teams listed above.

Army - C'mon. It's Army. Don't make me waste the bandwidth by even looking them up. It's Army.

That's 8 unranked teams. Total combined record of 8-5, not counting Army, because again, I am NOT wasting the bandwidth looking them up. The most impressive game played by ANY of them thus far was Air Force's LOSS to Tennessee. 5 of these will be in South Bend as well.

Looks like 8 cupcakes to me. Notre Dame has NO business losing to ANY of these teams. If we lose any of these, we deserve all the scorn that Mark May can muster.

And for the record, Mark May is an idiot, but not because he said Notre Dame has 8 cupcakes coming up.

Mark May's exists to annoy ND fans. It's his schtick. He is a one trick pony and it's not that good of trick. Ignore him. If you want real peace and tranquility ignore the four letter network entirely.

north carolina who is a team on the rise

Surely you jest. NC is not a team on the rise. They are a team stuck in chronic mediocrity under the leadership of John "I don't know what the hell just happened" Bunting. I am from North Carolina. The Tarheels suck this year. ND will squash them like bugs. It's a conflict of interest game for me. I want to see the Heels do well, but I don't want them to beat the Irish. Under Bunting, I don't expect them to come close. Anyway, if we beat Michigan today, we should be 11-0 when we play SC. Anything else is a huge disappointment.

To some extent, I agree. None of those teams are outstanding, but a few, like UCLA and Stanford, are pretty decent.

I think a tough schedule is one where two of the opponents you play have a 50% chance of winning. As for us, well, we know who those teams are.

You can never look past the service acadamies, well, maybe Army, but Air Force and Navy are always tough. They execute well and they are very disciplined. Navy will come to play hard, they want to end that streak, and Air Force is a good ground game and they run the option to perfection. Never take any of them lightly, you do and your in for a fight just like Tenn had last week.

Oh, I agree, the team should NEVER take anyone lightly. ANYONE can beat you if you don't come to play.

But the next 8 games aren't exactly murderer's row either. Our toughest games this year are clearly at the bookends: Georgia Tech, Penn State, Michigan and USC. But if we lose to any of those other 8, we deserve as much scorn as Mark May can pour on.

thats why winning is paramount no matter what if we win we are ok stateing the obvious 101 while we arent spossed to loss any of these games every one will play at a higher level when it comes to nd thats why i like cws approach and i dont think any one of our oponents will get over looked
