I know not many people in general follow women sports. When it comes to the Irish, though, I follow most sports extensively. But I think the Lady Irish Basketball team should garner some recognition along with alot of the Lady sports. I mean the soccer team won the National title, but most didn't know until the NC game.

So I just wanted to make a thread to show support for the Basketball team because they have a good squad this year. They are 16-4, all losses to ranked teams, last I checked. I watched the game they played against UCONN and they had them beat, it still makes me shake my head because they were so close, but stuff happens. I attended the game where they beat Southeast Missouri St., and that wasn't even a game, it was 46-6 at halftime. Fun game to be at.

But again just wanted to show my support, along with the guys b-ball team. But the women deserve it too.

GO Irish!!!

Military Irish, this in no disrepect to you and I enjoy your posts, and ill definitely catch some flack for this... but women's basketball is by far the worst sport to watch.

Happy for anyone associated with the team but until I have a daughter, I won't care.

Please don't neg rep me.

Terrible to say this, but one of the funniest quotes I have heard in a while comes from my best friend while watching women's basketball: "Watching women's basketball is like watching men's basketball underwater" Don't neg rep me either...

I agree, it is hard to just watch on TV, but when you go to a game, they have a strong following. I say mostly because of Skylar Diggins being from South Bend, I am her fan being that half my family graduated from Washington High. I won't lie I never watch the WNBA, ever. But I just love college sports with a passion, any gender or sport.

In reality I just love sports, but especially anything ND. I'll go back to my original post though, no one ever mentioned the ND Lady soccer team, but once they won the NC everyone congratulated them. So if this Lady Irish B-Ball team goes far, or even the title everyone will jump to support them. I just wanted to get the support out earlier.

Yea i agree, I over-reacted a little to your post- it wasnt even your main point--which was to acknowledge the team playing well until this point in the season. I am glad they are doing well.

Although, Id probably watch ND women's basketball over irish lacrosse.

As a side note- i was real annoyed about the UCONN streak coverage. OK, rant done.

(Just kidding Irish Lax---calm down.. haha.)

No over reaction on your part, I took it just as an honest opinion, but about that lacrosse comment I couldn't agree more, I mean it's like watching paint dry, uggh. I kid

I actually have been getting more and more into it, if it was actually on TV more I would watch it more than the NBA, to be honest. It seems to be a great sport, I wish my highschool offered it.

On the UCONN coverage thing, that killed me, it went on forever it seemed. I rooted so hard when Stanford actually beat them, even though I was at Kildares in South Bend at the time, I was glued to the TV. Great moment

Same thought ran through my head when I saw the post. I do watch ND women's BB. But come on, lacrosse is hockey for guys that can't stand up on skates.

Having daughters will change your outlook. Before I was married I was furious at the mere thought of title 9. Then I married a girl who played bball in high school and for her sorority.
Then we had two daughters. Life changer to say the least! Both girls went to all girls high schools, where I became the golf coach. When my oldest graduated I was asked to be the speaker at the sports banquet, my speech was about my transformation. Girls are incredibly fun to coach, they really appreciate coaches who care. So I know both sides of this very well. I will tell you, my wife who is a basketball junkie, can't stand watching girls bball.

I used to tell this joke where I'd tell the punch line first and then just not tell the rest of it.
"WNBA" was the punch line

It usually goes over well

yeah women's hoops is sooooo painful to watch on the tele.
I don't mind college softball, but my cousin played so I'd imagine that helps...

I think everyone deserves positive reps for being honest...

If girls could dunk would our opinion change?

I don't care for men's basketball either, be it live or televised.

Wouldn't change it for me.
But I'd imagine it could for some.

I have always felt that womens sports should not be televised do to how boring they are. Then my beautiful baby girl was born.....and my opinion has not change one bit. Still boring as can be. Maybe if she is playing ball as she get older my opinion will change. Only time will tell.

Not to be a jerk or anything else but if you don't care about it know even though your daughter plays on the team you shouldn't care about it. And i think at least ways college softball in much more fun to watch the baseball and the same goes for lacrosse.

i think id be interesting if you switched the skill levels, have women be the more athletically dominant gender on the court, and see which gains more attention.
