Do you guys think we'll see Burkhart against PSU this weekend after Gioia's performance against GT?

Good question. I'm wondering if Charlie had him kicking FG's this week to see how he looks. As strong as his leg is, it may be worth a shot. However, Gioia's problem wasn't strength in the leg, it was accuracy. So, not sure. I'd like to see Gioia get another chance to redeem himself, but after that...job is back on the table for Burkhart if he falters.

I really don't want to see Burk yet. I think Gioia deserves another chance and I personally don't want to see a freshman kicker with the game on the line. Withthat said, if Gioia continues to struggle, I think we stillhave to give the kid a chance...I just hope it doesn;t come to that.

I don't care who class they are, we need whomever can make kicks for us in the game. If that's Gioia, great... if it's not, next kicker please.

Can't win a NC without a consistent kicking game...........or get through September undefeated. Burkhart has to step up and he knows it. Huge issue when it boils on down!! One of the topics we should have been talking about months ago......who gives a darn about James Wison.

I honestly think we should just go for it unless it's a chip shot, 30 yards and in, unless it's 4-18 or something. I'm pretty confident in our 3rd down conversions, give us an extra down, not sure but I'd guess we'd go 50%, which if you consider that number and match it with what the field goal kickers percentage would be between 30-50 yards, I believe ND would come out way ahead by going for it. Food for thought.

Goia also had problems last year when Fitz got hurt. He's got problems this year. My call is give Burkhart a shot and see what he's made of. Can't be any worse

I also say give Burkhart a shot this Saturday, especially since its a home game so at least he won't have to deal with an away crowd.

I know Burkhart is suppose to be pretty good, but from what it sounded like over the off-season, he's just about as good as Gioia. Do you think we'll even see any improvement if we put the kid in, especially since he's an untested freshman?

If you are in range to kick, you are in range to go for it on fourth down and skip the kicking circus entirely.

Problem solved.

agreed 100%. expect to see a LOT of 4th down calls vs. kicks when we've got the ball inside the opponents 35 yard line.
