Man, I cannot believe he didn't have a bigger role with the Irish last year? If anyone needed a reason to be disappointed in Ty, it was for not realizing that Julius should have been getting major carries of Ryan Grant.

My God he is a workhorse.

Yeah, I don't think anyone realized what we had in JJ. Between his issues and the LoVecchio thing, ND wasted a lot of opportunities in the past four years.

i knew when he was here as a freshman, we had something really special, seeing him return that punt return for a TD against BC a couple years ago is still one of my favorite ND moments...i live out here in the bay area, so i go to the stanford/ND game each year they are here, and i got to see him twice in person...he is great, best of luck to him

WOW THATS AMAZING I cant believe Ty missed :upset: that one.It just snuck right by him. This guy was hyped as a freshman. You saw this last year. When he got the ball he made things happen but had to split time with grant.A great back splitting time with a back who runs with his head down.NOW,where have I heard that before.I am glad Walker isn't a senior :upset:

LOL...I just think that coaches fall in love with Seniors (even Seniors they didn't recruit). And let's not forget that Grant lowered his head to a 1,00 yard season, so it's not like the kid was garbage. Davie & TyWillie just made a bad call in starting him over Jones (although JJ might have contirbuted to that with his academic situation).

I knew Jones was the real deal last year, I knew he'd be great when Parcells got hold of him.

Where gonna see great things out of Walker once Weis is coaching him.

I think Walker & Quinn will be improved next year. A better overall coaching staff + a year of experience should help out. But I still think the "D" might cost us a few games.

Defense does worry me as well. Everyone says we need corners. But we recruited two nice corners last year in Lambert and Jabbie, just red shirted them for some reason. Plus Ambroose Wooden has loads of talent. Plenty of safties on this team so we can move guys like Parish to corner if we have too.

LB really worrys me. Goolsby and Curry are leaving (both are projected to be drafted). Hoyte is coming back for his last year. Besides Hoyte their really isn't a linebacker that impresses me. Vernaglia will probably play safety. Goolsby and Curry were the last big time LB's we recruited.

Thats why it is so important we land Cushing. If I were Weis I'd just promise Cushing early playing time. Thats how Penn State got Derrick Williams. There really aren't any coveted linebackers on the team after Hoyte leaves so their's no harm in promising Cushing early playing time.

I agree on the Cushing deal. I also think we should do similar "promises" with Cary Harris as I think he could be really nice for us.

I think any top flight defensive kid that was looking at Notre Dame shouldn't even think before signing because they're going to get time right away, especially if they are as good as advertised.

I think Weis coming from the NFL, were there are no seniors,Will play who is best. This is what some coaches do not understand. These kids dont want to sit behind people just because their older.I think this is why SC and Penn ST. are on differant ends of the game right now.If Stoopes or carroll had Walker would he ever be out of the game..The game has changed and some of the loyality is gone.It is a shame but it is the way the game is played today.A lot of kids think of this as a interview for the big time.Imagine if everyone older then you got to interview first.

I was at the Giant's game last night, got to see our boy JJ playing in the pro's. Its a shame its w/ the Cowboyd though...oh well, at least my G-Men won the game. That guy is so good though, me and my friend who's also an ND fan were like, "Why can't he still be in South Bend for a good Head Coach?"

Jones was not used the way he should have been in a West Coast offense. Did you see the 30 yard reception he had on the opening drive. Ty Willie good luck @ Washington recruting 1 and 2 star players....JACKASS!!!

i wonder how he will do...atleast at stanford and ND he could pull the "academic restrictions" card...at UW he will really have to prove himself

I think you guys are seriously underestimating the recruiting potential for Washington (and the Pac-10 as a whole). It should be far easier for TyWillie to recruit in Seattle than in South Bend. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a 5-6 win record in his first season there.

Yep.

I used to live in that area and it is a hotbed for Pac 10 teams in terms of the type of players. Ty will recruit well because kids in Washington want to go to UDub.

I would be flabergasted. As long as San Jose State isn't on Willingham's schedule, he stands a chance. Ty never could figure out how to beat those guys...

And whenever parents are interviewed, they more typically want their kids to go to ND over Big State U (see all of Iowa's linemen recruits). Yet the kids don't want to come because we're not a 'hot program.' Win, and ND is the easiest place in the world to recruit. Lose, and they won't come.

This is why the top linebacker in Washington still verbaled to Berkeley over Da Vicious Dawgs when he found out Willingham was coming.

True that...lol.

The perfect schedule for the Huskies:
- FSU
- Michigan
- Tennessee
- Virginia
- California
- Stanford (mandatory)
- Notre Dame (see Stanford)
- UCLA
- Iowa
- Utah
- Hawaii (who doesn't want to play in Hawaii???
;)

I know this thread has gotten off topic and is pretty old. Correct me if I am wrong but wasnt JJ in sports illustrated back in the early 90's as an 8th grader. I think the caption was "The Heisman trophy winner...in 2002" Or something like that.
