I think he'll start the guy who comes into camp and shows that he's the starting QB.

It would be neat if he did, but the competition is pretty stiff.

I'm going with Sharpley.

really? i don't normally weigh in on these sort of hypothetical questions, but sharpley? i know he was a stud in MI, but jones and frazer will both have a grasp of the playbook next year.

maybe i'm wrong...maybe he's got what it takes. but considering how much praise weis has heaped on his freshman quartbacks, as well as the clausen hype, a decision to start sharpley would have me concerned that our younger qb's weren't developing as quickly as we'd like.

My guess is Sharpley starts the first half of the season against the toughest part of the schedule, and then Claussen gets worked in in the second half.

Sharpley is second on the two deep right now.

The question is who will start in 2007, I'm going with the November 2006 front horse.

Frazer or Clausen.

I doubt it'd be Frazer only b/c Frazer brings pretty much the same skill set as Claussen, just not as much talent. If the starter's not going to be Claussen, I don't think Charlie'd go w/ Frazer over Sharpley or Jones.

My guess as to how the depth chart would go right now is: Sharpley, Claussen, Jones, Frazer.

The offensive line was supposed to be good this year and hasnt been. At least three of those guys wont be back next year which means the O line could really struggle. If thats the case, I think you start Jones because if the play breaks down I think he has the best chance to make something happen with his athletic ability.

I think it is waaaay to early to tell. All these guys have quite awhile to prepare. It will come down to who has done the most to make themselves ready come summertime. I don't even think we have a clearcut 1st string QB in Spring.

I am very interested to see how Claussen reacts to even college practices. I really wish I actually got to see some of these guys play. It's all speculation based on reputation at this point.

Demetrius Jones does not sleep. He anticipates.

Demetrius Jones has two speeds: walk and touchdown.

Demetrius Jones goes to McDonalds, orders a Whopper with cheese and they give him the Whopper with cheese.

Demetrius Jones does not wear a watch or look at clocks. He decides what time it is.

Demetrius Jones took the West Coast Offense and relocated it.

Dude, I think Claussen is the best thing to come along since, "Warming KY Jelly", but the kid is surrounded with incredible athletes ! Zach, set the Pennsylvania state record for passing yds. as a junior. The kids got a rocket arm and showed lots of promise in his recruiting videos. How many kids from that team (frazier's junior year) went on to receive div.1 scholarships ? Zach's senior season was a letdown, due to a horrific OL and inconsistent younger receivers. Nobody knows his full potential, until he's coached up.

Again, Im not saying Claussen wont start next year, nor am I doubting his abilities. The kids been surrounded and coached by college QBs' for years. He may very well end up being one of the best ND QBs' of all time, but as of right now, he's playing on a dream team loaded with div.1 talent. Im anxious to see him respond under some college pressure, when the score's close in the 4th quarter, and the offense doesn't have a RB gaining 7-8 yds. per carry.

I enjoy the "conversation" ! Im not trying to be a dick, just stating the obvious. It's hard to conversate a QB dilemma without friendly argument, especially when the talent crop is so rich.

Yeah, I know all of that, I'm not saying Claussen's better based on numbers alone. I think he's a little more mobile than Frazer (which might matter a whole lot next year), has a quicker release, and is more accurate. Frazer does have a better arm I think, but Claussen's arm is strong enough to get the job done so I don't think its a huge advantage.

Frazer's a big time talent too though, I'm not denying that. But I just don't think he's better overall. I guess my thing is, when I've seen film of Frazer standing back there in the pocket, he just reminds me too much of Drew Bledsoe, while in the couple of games of Claussen I've seen on ESPN, he reminds me of Peyton Manning.

That all may be true, but don't forget:

Jimmy Claussen once visited the Virgin Islands. They are now simply called The Islands.

If Jimmy Claussen is late, time better slow the f down.

When Pete Carroll goes to sleep at night, he checks his closet for Jimmy Claussen.

I agree ! Not sure about the Frazier/Bledsoe comparison, although I do think they share some of the same qualities. Claussen reminds me alot of Manning as well, and he has looked very, very good on ESPNU this season. What impresses me the most, is the touch he puts on the long ball. Again, like Peyton, he throws accurate passes only his WR can catch most of the time.

Personally I don't think it matters...

Sharpley and Frazier are pretty similiar, Zach is a bit bigger, but that's not all the important. We'll call these two equal.

Jimmy Clausen may have all the talent in the world, but it's hard as hell to learn an advanced offense while you have to worry about school and everything else. If he REALLY works his butt off and manages to get it down (he is an EE, so it's possible) then he could start. I figure he'll be about the same as Sharpley and Frazier unless he's as much of a god as people say. Personally he hasn't impressed me with the film I've seen. I see him hitting wide open recievers with no pressure on him. I'm sure there's gotta be some reason he's the "#1 prospect in 10 years", but I haven't found it yet.

Demetrius Jones seems to be a Chris Leak type player except less of a pussy. Definately throw first, but can run and scramble. He seems to be the smartest of them all to me..but I haven't seen a lot of any of them yet.

So it'll be Sharpley/Frazier, JC, or DJ. Personally I'd like to see DJ get the start. I don't think it'll happen, unfortunately.

I think it'll be either Sharpley or JC. Sharpley if JC can't get the offense quick enough, JC if he can.

Personally I think it should be DJ, but for some reason I can't see charlie giving him the start. Don't know why..just a feeling.

So like I said before, all these QBs are about the same unless JC really is jesus or DJ can pull it off.

In 2007. the United States is changing over to Demetrius Light Savings Time.

The sun will set when he says so.

Demetrius Jones doesn't read his playbook, he looks at it until he gets the play he wants.

Charlie would not have to call plays to Demetrius.

Demetrius would look to the sideline, Charlie would nod, Demetrius would nod back and then go to the huddle with the play.

When asked about choosing next years' QB, Charlie said that next spring was going to be "very interesting". He has not made a choice, nor do I feel that he is leaning towards anyone. In effect, this will put all four under immense pressure next spring and Charlie will see who can handle the pressure best. The things we know for sure are that each and everyone of them is talented, smart and whomever is chosen will blossom under the watchful eye of Charlie.
