Loved Thome when he was a Phillie. Real nice guy though him being here ended Howards chance to break the homerun record.

He'll always be my favorite Cleveland Indian ever... Broke my heart the day he left....but never more proud of him than I was of him tonight. Congratulations Mr. Thome. Mr. 600

He gave a huge amount of credit to Charlie Manuel for developing him into the HR hitter that he became. He said that Charlie always believed in him which gave him confidence and considers Charlie is like a father to him.

As an Indians fan, I shake my head when these guys hit milestones. Oh, what should have been. :(

Yes there are 8 guys on the list but 3 of them need to come off. Glad to see he did it the right way.

Good for you Jim, it has been a pleasure watching you play for the twins (plus if you haven't seen his paul bunyan commercial, look it up! It's hilarious)

Manuel turned all of those guys on the Tribe into monster hitters. Guys a genius.

Thome is one of my favorite athletes of all time. I can't think of any other guy in baseball who has doesn't even get the "what if he juiced" question. The guy has played his entire career honestly, not many guys from his era can say that.

Despite the way he left, Jim Thome is still my favorite Indian ever.

Last year, I was walking with my cousin in Detroit, and I guess the Twins were in town to play the Tigers, when I saw Jim Thome walk out of the hotel with his wife and begin to walk in our direction. He saw my Indians shirt on and walked up to me and said hello. He talked about his times here, about the Indians current team, etc. and when I asked him to sign an autograph he said "as many as you need." He shook my hand and continued down the street.

Before this, I still liked Jim Thome, but because of how he left Cleveland (it wasn't really that bad, but I remember being really pissed at the time) I never thought I would love him the way I did when he was hitting bombs wearing that Tribe uniform. But after meeting him and seeing in person what a great person he was, I guess I decided he was my favorite Indian ever.

Many great memories both at the Jake and watching him belt some blasts on tv. Certainly my favorite member of the Tribe from the 90s. Just saw a clip of him hitting the longest home run in Jacobs Field (now Progressive) history at about 510 feet to dead center... Guy had insane opposite field power and he actually maintained a pretty good average during his peak power years. Wish he could have reached 600 in an Indians uniform!
