No team has had to deal with this situation before

President Reagan was shot by a would be assassin and was fighting for his life but they went ahead and played the National championship that very night in men's hoops. They debated it.

Indiana defeated North Carolina.

Good point.

This game could have, and should have been played tonight.
Telling terrorists that they can screw with our way of living. It's a win for the terrorists that are coming across our border daily, and the FBI Is trying to deny.

NOLA Is probably the safest place on earth tonight. We should have played the game in honor of the fallen Americans.

The delay hurts Georgia more than us they haven’t played in weeks probally stiff as a board plus the extra day gives Rocco and KVA more time to heal up

If those two were gonna not play today they weren't going to play tomorrow. An extra day at this point I don't think does anything

Omg who cares about which team it hurts more. It’s a situation both teams have to deal with and have never experienced before. Second, why are people actually upset? There was a terrorist attack less than a mile down the road where innocent lives were lost. Football is a sport, which is leisure and for pure entertainment. We need to make sure that the area is safe for the audience (fans) and the students. No reason to keep it on, all resources should be used to help figure out the reason for this awful act, not diverted for an entertainment event. You could also make the argument that it’s selfish to the people of NOLA to even have resources diverted to the Sugar Bowl for tomorrow and the game should be moved to a whole new venue.

Reports of possible loud bang near the current site of the attack Jesus Christ
I did hear something from my hotel room, though I’m closer to the Superdome. They had blocks shut down near the attack. Wonder if they detonated something.

What's the deal with the Cybertruck in Las Vegas? Parked in front of the Trump hotel and exploded? It's not like it had gas in it

In what way? I know this isn't a political thread.
But, please explain your reasoning for the dumb post.

You didn't quote me, but I disagreed with your post because no one can guarantee the safety of the players and fans. There could be explosives planted all over the city. No one knows for sure where they are and if all of them are found.
Why risk our player and fans lives over a game?
Postpone, move, whatever.
Imo, not safe to play today.

If a lithium battery goes into thermal runway, it will explode. There are several reason for thermal runway, but if the battery is damaged in anyway this will happen. Also, there isn’t a way to put a lithium fire out. You have to let it burn.

I haven’t watched any of the videos today, but I’ve been a part of a controlled lithium before and the heat from it is amazing.

This is what a Tesla lithium malfunction should look like. Different from the LV thing

You don’t think Georgia players would be out after curfew? It’s not as if they’re held accountable. They’ve had around 30 arrests in the last 2 years.
I’m sure Kirby was putting that piece of duct tape on their hotel room door.

I understand.
I'm just frustrated with these terrorists. Let our D go after them and get dirty
Give all of them 5 minutes in the cell with these soft minded terrorist's
Then play the game with all that adrenaline.

Apparently there were some sort of explosives in the vehicle (maybe large fireworks) which is what caused the “explosion”. I’d have to think it’s not a coincidence that the vehicle is a Tesla and it just happened to explode outside of the Trump hotel. Apparently it was rented through the same app as the truck in NOLA but authorities haven‘t found any other links yet. I don’t believe they’ve released the identity of the driver (who was killed) just yet.
