One thing i've always thought about Russell is that he's a first-option passer, meaning he's great when his first option is open, but he's not great at working through a progression. so, i think strategy should be to take away slants/outs/posts first, and i think you'll see russell's numbers decline. now, he's best at finding other receivers when he's out of the pocket, so you have to try and limit that.
one good thing we have going for us is that LSU has had trouble with their running game most of the season. they seemed to have found their back with a freshman (name escapes me), but all those other backs from the nat'l title year have nearly disappeared. but even still, they're a throw first offense this year, and knowing that i think bodes well for our defense, as we can key certain things.
one other thing i want to point out about LSU is that everyone's right when they call them the most talented team in the SEC. but that only gets you so far. their receivers are prone to drops (reference tennessee game), and fundamentally they seem to be a little lacking. as long as bo pellini keeps his muzzle on we should be all right, he might just bite brady quinn during the game otherwise. has anyone tested that man for rabies?
