It's unfortunate...

I hope I'm wrong but I currently believe that USC is going to beat us this year in recruiting. The recruits that USC is after is insane (and many of them are highly interested), and they have a lot more leaway with some of the talent ND can't touch due to grades, morals, etc. The way I feel is that we stole one from USC in Jimmy Clausen, however. That is a good thing. I think we'll still have a top 10 class (possibly 3rd behind Texas and USC). Here's to Benn announcing Irish and stating, "I really just didn't see anything that was "special" at USC. The golden dome, touchdown Jesus, first down Moses...that's special!" I am predicting that the game for recruiting next year will be won by the winner of the USC vs. ND game

I wouldn't trade our class with USC as it stands right now. The only prospect SC has thus far that I'd die to have is Galippo.

Beat us how? In the rankings on Rivals or Scout or beat us in our first choice of recruits? By my count they have two of our first choice(Tyler and Gallippo), while we have Kamara, Clausen and Ragone. The other players we are going to go head-to-head with, it would appear we are in better shape with Benn, Miller, and M.Wilson while we may be falling behind in the Marvin Austin race. For the most part, I think we are going to get the recruits we want, and they will settle on their second choice. A role-reversal from the past recruiting years.

They're entirely overrated.

They're four star players because they're at SC. PERIOD.

Exhibit A: Aaron Corp.

BTW, don't know if you've noticed, but Aaron Corp earned his 5th star on Scout and is now the 6th best QB in the country.

LMAO!

I'm not a recruting expert, but I play one on internet forums.

So here's my take. I believe if you look at it by stars and rankings, USC will always be ahead, simply because they are the team everybody loves right now. You can call it a conspiracy theory all you want, but once a player commits to SC, the rankings go up. When a player commits to ND, the rankings go down.

Look at Konrad Reuland last year. Number 1 tight end, the day before he commits to ND, he becomes #2. And there are many others, I don't think they need to be explained here.

But also, how many of these top SC players will transfer, and how many of them will be eligible to play? USC has had the last 3 #1 classes, so you think they would be the unanimous choice for #1 team in the preseason polls this year, but there are a lot of question marks. And a lot of it has to do with players who transfered, are not eligible academically, or have not been given their release rights from Chino state prison.

I think for the most part, we have gotten most of our top targets. We are not going to get them all, and when you really think about it, most teams usually are lucky to land one of their top targets at a position.

I'm pretty happy with the way recruting is going. No need to panic over losing Tyler.

Hey Svoboda, I think you should make one of your betting lines as to whether Corp will be the #1 QB in the nation by signing day. I would give it 2 to 1 odds.

That is just sick.

Well, I find solace in the dreams we have of Kerry Neal and Aaron Nagel, earning the respect they haven't received, destroying the USC offense in the future.

On the ESPN recruiting evaluations, Corp is a 78 and the other guy is a 75.

We'll really know something is up if that tackle they just received a commit from (Reardon) becomes a 4 star. He has not been high on anyone's list yet.
