It's Officially Game Week

What are your thoughts or feelings going into this first game with GT, compared to last year?

I've been watching Oldies highlight vids for non stop. I'm ready for Saturday.

From everything I've heard and read this team worked harder this offseason than any other team. At the very least they worked harder than any other ND team in recent memory. We will see the results of their hard work.

My anticipation level is an at all time high for game week. However, I'm a bit more calm about it. There is something to be said for having confidence in the ability of those you follow.

This feels like the late eighties and early nineties right now.........which obviously is a feeling that has been long dorment. If UT takes down OSU.......the giant #1 piece will sit atop of Grace hall on campus.......13 years of dust has accumulated on that thing. Gonna be great!

i always get nervous about the first game of the year. it's the hardest game to anticipate because you've got to spend months wading through all the pre-season hype that comes from each team's camp. all the talk about how there's a new enthusiasm/excitement/aggressiveness/attitude coming from hometown U., and this year's gonna be different than the last. you never really know how good your team will be or how good the competition will be until you see the season start to unfold.

after the first couple weeks, the hype dies down and reality sets in. teams start to discover that the parade all-american freshman that shined during summer camp is getting hammered on game day, and that the shake up of assistant coaches or the changes in the secondary failed to translate into improved play on the field.

i like ND's chances this year. but their performance against GT will set the tone for the season....we just need to jump out to a quick start.

Getting my coaching debut out of the way, I can officially say I'm ready to get the season going now. In fact, I'm excited for my team, my high school and college alma maters and Notre Dame.

ND is a complete 180 from last season. No one is taking them to start 0-6 this year.

In all fairness Jigga, they should have never talked 0-6 last year and anyone with a brain didn't.

This is the first time in a long time that I am totally psyched for a ND football season. Its been a long time coming and I have been thinking about this football season non-stop now for the last two weeks at least. September 2nd 7 PM can't get here fast enough for me!!! I am nervous as all hell about this whole month, hope nobody on the team lets the hype go to their head and Charlie keeps them level headed and just take it a week at a time. We do that, and ND will get through it undeafeted!!! How sweet would it be if USC and ND are undeafeted for that game in November??!!

I will be nervous as hell unless we are up by 3 TDs. GT is a spoiler team. They are not a top notch team, but they have some great talent. This is probably their biggest game all year, so they are up for it...in a big way. It's on their field and the stadium has been sold out for a while.

A very nerve wracking day.

However, I do have faith in the Irish and I believe we will get out with a win.

In regards to the week itself...this is going to be a VERY VERY VERY long week. I should not even come into work, I am going to be so distracted.

This could very well be the best season since 1988...I simply cannot wait.
