You can make a case for any conference being overrated. The SEC's offenses suck and play crap out of conference games.

The Big 10's top two is great. Wisky is good. The rest pretty much blow.

The Big 12 North?

The ACC has some good and some mediocre teams but nobody great. Certainly not what they promised with the expansion.

I just can't pick out one conference that top to bottom lives up to its billing.

the vs. AP doesn't look too good, but in it's defense when does the Pac 10 get any love anyway... and from someone who gets about three-four pac 10 teams a week... I wouldn't knock it any more than I would any other conference including the Big ten and SEC

Then another teams plays well and doesn't get a whole lot of respect. AKA WISKY. agreed on the big ten... the quality of football never seems on par with the other conferences to me either... at least not with the amount of love they get (2nd only to the SEC most times) KJ also said ND would not know the same level of success if they joined either... he's a Big ten/ Pac 10 guy, always has been

I don't think it is nearly as top heavy as it was.

SC is still very good, but they have not dominated the way they have the last 3-4 years.

I can tell you this with absolute certainty. Over the past several decades, fans of midwestern teams, by which I mean the Big 11 and ND, have tended to underrate the Pac-10. I've seen fans of Michigan, O$U, Iowa, Wisconsin, Sparty &c all think they were going to cream their Rose Bowl opponents, only to lose. ND seriously underestimated the mighty Beavers twice in bowl games.

The fact that UCLA (remember how tough that game was?) is a middle of the Pac-10 team tells you all you need to know.

Some of these teams finally have an interest in playing defense. Therein lies the improvement.

Those particular ND teams had little reason to underestimate anybody.

I thought that first Oregon St. team in the Fiesta was the best team in the country at the end of the year. Chad Johnson and TJ Housmanawannabobo killed us.
