Is it emotion?

that is lacking with Charlie Weis? It is one thing we don't see much of from him, and it may be one thing that brings this team to the next level! Mix in his offensive gameplan, aggressive defense, and great athletes. Maybe an ass kicking personality boost is just the thing this team needs. Don't ever underestimate what a certain state of mind can do. It seems that clausen has developed one, and we have all seen what he has become as a player. Does Weis have it in him?

There have been many successful coaches that never showed a lot of outward emotion. Tony Dungy, Bear Bryant, Tom Landry. Then there are those successful coaches that do
John Gruden, Lou Holtz, Woody Hayes, at least Charlie won't punch an opposing player.

Has nothing to do with emotion. Although I clearly think he has shown emotion.

It is, in my opinion, his lack of game management skills that have cost this team umpteen games over the last few years. Yes he is an offensive wizard, when he has the right players. The offense has been unstoppable this year. So my feeling is that he is a great offensive coordinator, and nothing more.

its not lack of emotion...its the lack of defensive players.

if charlie had even a mediocre defense we'd be undefeated now, and looking very strong.

As it is, we have 1 loss and we have to score 33 or more points to have a chance at winning.

what im trying to say, if we had a defense, I dont think this question even comes up in the conversation.

I have to agree with Phork. Much like what's going on with my team. You can have all the talent in the world but if you don't coach or can't coach it won't matter either. Talent only helps when you are so much better than the next guy. When you both are similar coaching shows in the end.

It is the kind of talent...if you recruit thugs who cant handle automony, they wont do anything when the coach isnt looking, or isnt on their ass. They wont take the initiative on their own, and complacency sets in, a sense of entitlement. Then you end up losing to teams like ore st., stanford, UW, etc, etc.

funny how a usc guy agrees with Phork, one of the biggest Weis haters on this board.

Personally I have never really bought into the whole emotion thing. If the players respond to you as a coach and are willing to play hard for you, which I think this team is,then what more can you ask for. Besides, with players like Tate, B. Smith, and Clausen leading this team how much more emotion do you want. Anyone else notice we haven't come out flat yet?
