this is a thread from BG. Note this posters eyewitness account of JLS and MSU sideline thuggery.

So here it is! Things I thought I would never see, hear, or be invovled with in any shape at all, at a Division 1 University, with roots that go back into history, and one that states such pride and gloats about their sportsmanship and tradition. Lah, de, freakin dah!!

(Maybe BGI can help me out as to what if anything can be done about some of these instances.)

While standing by Steve/Berry's clothing store, had several beer bottles thrown at me by Spartan fans, mainly kids. Only 1 actually hit me. Though 1 person did check to see if I was ok. I didn't have time to get a plate #. Everyone had a good laugh around me."That's what you get for coming up here" A lady told me.

Got beer poured on me as I was walking into the stadium. Now its 2 times where the worst thing could happen..wasted beer!!! Poor beer!

Got told my mom's name wasn't Laura, it was.......you get my drift
Had to endure an announcer that egged on the student body with chants of-
1. Ef the Irish
2. Brady is a f@g
3. Overrated
4. Ur sis is a wh...
5 Wies is a fat-a55

1.The band playing while our band is playing.
2.Throwing bottles and what not at ND fans sitting in that area.
3. Students throwing stuff towards our players during warm-ups.

As far as what I heard from the players and thier so called coach.
One player noticed my ND gear and decided to taunt me, which at the end of the game I got my revenge on him. The players were out disrespectful, profane, immature, and lacked everything that resembles class as football players and as persons too. I base this on many things that I do not care to repeat, well, its just too long to type out too!!
John L. Smith needs to be slapped and action to be taken for the words he spoke to his team. If this the type of leadership they have, no wonder they are classless ect. 1st. After the malay on the sidelines, he came over to the D that was sitting on the bench. Berrated them all and told them to go get the f@ggot Quinn. Hurt him. Don't get caught but break something. Ef them, Ef that. I hate that effen fat blankty blank coach. That whole team can go to heck!! I am not kidding. He said even more. I wont share anymore, you get the picture. I yelled back which of course got me into trouble. That's the fisrt time the usher cautioned me.
I yelled no class, and go Irish. I also exclaimed what kinda coach/team are you guys to act like that. This of course caused major fervor. I did feel a little uneasy as I was the only Irish fan within 500 feet!! I didn't care, I wasn't gonna stand for all that!!

I was to say the least appauled. The Coach has definately been an intricate reason why many on the team are classless and lack moral character. Which feeds the fans and the student body.

After the game they sent out 3 bodyguards to the 50, to protect thier "S". Big deal. We are better because we celebrated with our team. Who wanted that stupid S anyway, which stands for sportsmanship, something they don't have.

I was truly amazed at these events and I am glad I got out of there unscathed. We won. Revenge was all mine as the scoreboard read 40-37.

PM me if you want more gory details!

Johnelle is a classless piece of trash. He needs to quit his crying about "our refs" and get to work on preventing the 06 version of the MSU collapse.

Last week, I defended the MSU rivalry. After reading this among many reports of dispicable MSU fan behavior, I say the hell with it. Find somebody else for that spot.

We should drop Sparty from our schedule to be quite honest. Of all of my personal trips, the worst I've ever been to is Michigan State. I was treated similarly and was fearful that I was going to get jumped on several occasions.

The town, the University and the football program is a dump. There are other opponents out there that would love to play us annually. For lack of better terms, fuck Michigan State.

Agreed.

All of the Ohio State bashing that goes on at this site, here is one group that gets nowhere near the credit for being total assholes.

They're Fredo to about five schools. I say be done with them or play on a neutral site like Ford Field or whatnot. The stadium is a hellhole, their coach is a jagoff and some of their fans are just flat out asswipes.

I also would like to see Michigan State off of the schedule and have a team from either the SEC or Big 12 put on there in their place. Would like to see LSU back on the schedule or OU. Both schools are big time and would help us out even more with recruiting, fans are die hards and both of their head coaches are stand up guys from what I can tell. Stoops handled their screwing over about as well as a head coach can handle something like that.

Wish I could have been there with that guy, it does sound oddly exciting. I don't mind taking an ass whooping from time to time, as long as I bring a couple with me. I don't fight cleanly when I start losing, somebody is going to come out with a gouged eyeball and/or a teste or two missing.

i was at the game. living in Michigan my whole life, it wasn't my first ND game in that stadium.

my experience was mixed. we sat next to some great msu fans that took it all in stride. they were restrained when they were doing well and self deprecating when they were doing poorly - similar to me and my (irish fan) buddy's behavior. all in good fun.

the state fans behind us were phenomenally obnoxious, although i've come to expect, and ignore, that sort of behavior from state fans.

the worst of it was when we were leaving the stadium. we were obviously excited, but not vocal - meaning, we weren't provoking a confrontation. we were just trying to get back to the car. on two occasions i was shouldered and called a fag by disgruntled MSU fans. both times the opportunity was there to escalate the situation, but i chose not to.

state fans are the worst of any stadium i've ever been in.

I struggle with this. The announcer never said it...so what did the poster really mean?

i'm unclear on that as well. i sat in the upper deck across from the press box. while i was quite a distance away from the student section, i didn't pick up on any of these chants, save the occasional obnoxious individual fan.

I must have lucked out...

A friend of mine who worked in East Lansing set me up with some of her friends to tailgate with Saturday - and they were as nice as could be.

Yes, I did get heckled by some passing MSU fans, but it wasn't bad.

Even after the game I had a pair of students walk up and appologize for anything that was said and said that wasn't representative of their student body.

We may find it hard to believe, but there are also drunk jackasses that attend ND games at home and berate fans. I remember this being true especially Miami and Michigan gamedays.

You'll find good and bad at every stadium.

I also have a MSU game experience from when I was still in grad school, and a buddy and I travelled to Lansing in 2002 along with our classmates. I remember we had a tailgate, and we had some eggs thrown at us, as well as some expletives. I remember one of our friends came back covered in paint, and he made the mistake of walking through the student portion of the tailgate areas (MSU) looking for a friend of his. BIG MISTAKE!
Although one cannot generalize that ALL MSU fans are classless, but I did experience these types of examples, and had to restrain myself.

As long as I am pilfering from NDN, check this out. Skip to about the 7 minute mark, then sit back and enjoy.

I would go with Georgia as they have been a consistently good team year in, year out. I also like Tennessee as they have classy fans and Rocky Top always has been welcoming and we have had success there.

I agree that we should "expand" our schedule. I love our rivalry games, but I'd like to see some other games with big universities. Sometimes I think ND gets too tied up with playing local teams to compete with recruits. Got news for you, Charile has handled our region well and I think we need to jump into other people's regions and start stealing their recruits. Play the teams like Texas, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, etc. and give some of the young guys living in those areas a good look at a REAL program. How awesome would it be to match up Urban Meyer and Charlie Weis in a game, especially after all the hoop-la when ND was looking for a coach and Urban blew off ND?
