It's been reported in other threads that Aldridge has a bum knee..

1) Sam Young (will end up starting in my opinion)
2) Raeshon McNeil
3) George West
4) Konrad Rueland
5) Morrice Richardson

Forget Aldridge's knee. It's the mental aspect of the game that will relegate him to "0" minutes this year. Prince will see time and will take over the starting RB position when DW/TT leave.

Although West would probably be next in line. Our kickoff return game could us an uplift. If I remember correctly, we did not run a kickoff back for a touchdown all season right. (Note: I am not talking about punt returns, just kickoffs.)

I refuse to speculate on who will play the least. Honestly, I find that kind of disrespectful and I remind you that some lesser thought of recruits end up the best players. I would have loved to have had Ohio St's three star linebacker AJ Hawk on our team. I'm pretty happy about our three star RB from Georgia as well. Don't get me started on that Shark guy.

Speaking of WR, Robby Parris will surprise a lot of people. He may not play much this year do to inury related conditioning, but he will play by the time he's done.

Yeatman will play, Weis loves the TE's or if he's an Oline, depth will help him.

Gordon may be the hardest hitter in this class. That may be worth something right there.

As for who will play the most, I'd start with Young in the RT rotation. West will be next at KR.

Reuland as the third TE.

McNeil as nickel CB.

I won't be so bold as to predict the next four years.

Burkhart could win the kicking job. Sam Young could win right tackle. Walls, McNeil, Smith and Richardson could all log minutes on defense.

Depth is such an issue, a lot of these guys could be playing be it in mop up time during a blowout win (we hope) or (Heaven forbid) there are injury issues.

Is special teams factored into all of these predictions? Those minutes count as PT.

I see Burkhart winning the kicking job, therefore he would have the biggest impact in my mind out of this class this coming season.

I want to see touchbacks. Lots of them. Defending 80 yards of the field more often than not.

No more missed extra points please. No shanked field goals under 40 yards, either.

Burkhart, from what I saw of Goia in spring, will be our kicker.

If the Spring Game was any indication, I hope Burkhart is ready to put it through the posts.

Freshman playing time

Freshman playing time

Jigga makes the best point. It's the kids who raises their hand when Charlie
asks......"Alright, who wants to be on the kickoff team?"
The most exciting thing is that they all will have their shot to play.
Charlie's teams, like Belichick's and Parcell's, are meritocracies. If you can play
and perform, you will play. The more quality players that Charlie feels can perform
and that he can trust with making good decisions, the less the depth chart matters.
I see Charlie rotating his receiving corps much more than last year. Samardjiza off
for a play for a three tight end formation of Carlson, Freeman and Reuland.
Those three off for a five wide formation of Samardjiza, McKnight, Hord, Grimes
and Gallup. And so on and so on.
Don't forget that Charlie, in his current recruiting efforts, is looking for SPEED!
Look for guys who have it to get extra long looks.....Gallup, Prince, Grimes, et. al.

If there is a shread of truth to moving Travis Thomas to LB, then I have to think Toryan Smith and Morrice Richardson could log significant minutes.

To ask the number two RB on the team to move to LB doesn't exactly endorse confidence in the guys already at LB.

Once a kid is on the field. Forget about those stupid stars that he got from some internet geek with a VCR and a pile of highlight tapes. Aldridge may be the next starter, but it has nothing to do with "stars." Just like the Clausen situation.

I disagree with a lot of those lists if we are talking next year.

#1 Kellen Wade - Weis has talked about how he hopes Wade will be up to the task of pass rushing next year as Weis plans on using him a lot in passing situations

#2 George West - With the injury to DJ Hord, West will likely get some time on the field as a reciever (though it could be Richard Jackson) and West will see a lot of time on Special teams, including taking some of the Punt return duties away from Zbikowski

#3 Konrad Rueland - With the Departure of Hiben, this puts Rueland at the #3 spot in an offense that will likely run a lot of two TE sets. Rueland should see a decent amount of time

#4 Munir Prince - With only 2 RB's ahead of him and Alderidge hobbled with an Injury, Prince should see the field some, mostly in Mop up duty though baring an injury

#5 Toryan Smith - I don't think it will happen but he makes my list because he has the best shot at starting, if Crum can't handle the middle, and no one steps up, Smith will become the starting Middle Linebacker

#6 Sam Young - He won't see any starting time unless there is an injury but should get a lot of garbage time, we need to build some experience in our O-line and he will be a starter the following 3 years.

I don't see Walls or McNeal making a big impact at all, we are damn deep at Corner and it is unlikely that a freshman will beat out any of these guys.

This is a Veteran team on both sides of the ball, I don't expect to see much of an impact from the freshman at all.

Once upon a time, I agreed with you. I still think long term, he has the ability to be a great one, but he is going to need to get stronger and work on his technique before he is ready to take on DI athletes. This showed at the Ohio Penn Big 33 game. Against better, bigger competition, he wasn't dominated, but really did nothing to stand out. He didn't do too much in the game I saw against Moeller, either. He is a very athletic kid, though and I think the Mendoza program can make him a great rush DE over time. Think Tuck after redshirting his first year. I'm not saying he is a lock to be that good, but he is a project with a high ceiling.

I have to agree with FI9...especially with West and Wade. West could be the break-away speed that will open things up for Shark and Rhema. Wade could be a special guy on 3rd down and long situations with the proper coaching of technique. These two plus Walls, McNeil, Smith and Young would be my choices (and Reuland in two tight end sets where we will have 5 receivers).

Regardless, we should see some exciting football in the future.
