.....who would it be?

No disrespect intended toward any of this year’s players, but who do you think would have the biggest positive impact on this team if he could play another year at ND?

I vote for Zibby. That guy was tough as nails on defense and was always a return threat on special teams. I think he could provide the spark and leadership those two teams are lacking.

Gotta put Jeff Faine in there with Aaron Taylor. Some Mark Edwards too.

Either Bryant Young or Shane Walton.

I'll go with Shane Walton since the D-line seems to be coming along

I would say Ross Browner. I watched him play in the 70's and he was fantastic. I looked this up on Wiki for those that were not around then or may have forgotten.

Ross Browner was one of the most decorated defensive players in the history of College Footbal. He was a four-year starter at defensive end in 1973 and 1975-77. He was a unanimous All-America his junior and senior seasons of 1976 and 1977. In 1976 he won the Outland trophy as the nation's best interior or defensive lineman also in 1976 United Press International named him Lineman of the Year. He won the Lombardi Trophy as the nation's best lineman and the Maxwell Award as the nation's best player and again won the UPI Lineman of the Year Award, the only player ever to win it twice. In the decade of the 1970s, Browner was the only lineman who won the Maxwell. In 1977 he also placed fifth in voting for the Heisman Trophy.

Notre Dame had a 39-7 record in his time that covered 11-0 in 1973, 8-3 in 1975, 9-3 in 1976, and 11-1 in 1977. Notre Dame won National Championships in 1973 and 1977. His career statistics record 340 tackles, a school record; ten deflected passes, two blocked kicks. He also scored a touchdown and two safeties. Browner was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999.

The offense is very solid at the skill players, so I would go with an o-lineman--can't go wrong with Taylor or Faine. That said, have any of you ever wondered what Ricky Watters could do under the Weis system? Remember how well Walker did? Well, Watters was better in every phase of the game.

As for defense, a pass rushing maniac would be great so we could bring pressure with just the front four. Browner or Tuck would do the trick.

Well, the offense is cruising along. It could be better, but it is absolutely the better unit, by a wide margin. So we need some defensive help. We think that this defense could be much better, with better on field leadership.

Bring back Frank Stams!!!

Browner was certainly a force of nature and he was impressive to watch. He would definately make the short list along with guys like Rocket, Zorich, Tim Brown, Bryant Young -- hell, I don't know if I could pick just one guy.

Chris Zorich or Alan Page on D.

and yea, we could use some Hunter the Punter.

I like our offense how it is, but if I had to pick someone, I would say Aaron Taylor or Jeff Faine.

To have the biggest impact I would say it would need to be on defense, offensively ND aren't having too many problems scoring. I think that on defense, if we had a solid pass rush with four men then the secondary would take care of itself. Need somebody, nasty, intense borderline vicious...and certainly needs to absorb two blockers and still wreak havoc...
Ladies and gentlemen I give you two-time All-American Chris Zorich.

Tiptoe through the Tulips I said Zorro before you did. Therefore I'm more better than you.

I'm trying to decide where I'm going to watch the game and boobies today.
