If the Irish lose the bowl game, Weis should be terminated!

The players should be ready to kick ass and take names!

Hawaii is much better than people give them credit for..... but if ND loses this game, our fearless leader should be fired..... for me personally, this game means a lot because I want to see how our boys will respond after losses to Syracuse and the men of troy.....Also, I want to see if they can focus with all the distractions of the beautiful islands.

ND could lose to Hawaii by 20 and Weis would not be fired! It is over. He will be here next year. MOVE ON!

Agree completely. There is no reason to even have a thread like this. He will not get fired regardless of the outcome.

True. Unfortunately he will be here next year. But not after he loses to Nevada the first game of the year.

You're right, he will be here, the window for firing him is past, regardless of the outcome in Hawaii. However, I'd be more than a little surprised if they fire him in-season next year. I just don't see ND doing that, unless next year is really a disaster (and by that I don't mean 6-6, I mean like starting the year 0-6 or something like that).

I just wonder when/if they do fire him, who they'll be able to get to replace him?

They could lose by a HUNDRED and Charlie is not going anywhere. They made there bed by the big contract and now they have to lie in it

One thing is definite if they lose this next game. The Irish are going to be 6-7, that is a fact.

Is anyone else disturbed by the Lackadasical attitude approach to the Bowl Game. Less practices, this sounds more like a Spring Break, I hope I am wrong on this. I said against Syracuse that they need to keep their Head on a Swivel, this is a dangerous opponent. Now is the time for ND to decide if it wants to be a SHEEP or a WOLF.

Should be, but probably won't be. Certainly would be interesting to hear Swarbrick's spin should the unthinkable happen.

If they lose the bowl game they still suck. It is just that simple. Honestly would anyone be surpised if it went either way? I am not sure what to expect. I know Hawaii aint bad. I know the Irish are capable of playing with them. So I really have no idea who will win. I am hoping that the Irish win, but you never know till they play it.

LOL. That is what I am talking about. We are not a juggernaut. We have been beaten by less. I really hope we come to play.

I think we should be positive. Talking about losing and firings before the game being played is defeatism.
The coaches want to win badly, as well as the players. We all know the fans need this win to get the monkey off our back.
I think we'll get r done.

I agree. I been drinking a couple. I am trying real hard to be positive. Its been a long season. Last season was longer, minus the bowl game of course. I really respect this Hawaii team and I am not sure we "SHOULD" beat them. That is sad to say but it is the state of Irish football at the present.

Yup...beating Hawaii will not change the 6-6 sucky season...it will be nice...but that's all. Losing would suck, but seriously, the team is 6-6...it's not like 7-6 would be that much better.

We will win this game by 14 plus points. These kids have something to prove and obviously CW does as well. I'm guessing Swarbrick said he betting start opening cans of wuppass out there and not let up. I think we see the ND of CW's first year and why not? If we don't make a few flubs here and there we are 9-3 this year and comptetitve in every game except USC (but played tough on D). This is an audition for alot of guys to make a statement for next year as well.

i'm going to stay positive and hope for a early Xmas present and momentum into 2009.

GO IRISH!

GREAT STUFF!!! GO IRISH!! There's a lot of negative responses on the majority of these threads... A win here could give us some momentum for the 2009 season.

BeatSC/nd1988,

I'm right with you. This year, the close losses, the bad play calling; all behind us now. We have Hawaii coming up, I'm going to have my ND sign lit up, my jersey on, the chili cooking, and hopes high. GO IRISH!!

What officiating crew is doing the game? This could have a large impact on the outcome. For ND's sake a neutral crew might help.

minus recruiting i agree there was no reason for weis to be retained another year. he has to put up big next year or he will be fired, at least 10 wins and BCS with this schedule. and as for the mediocrity statement, i agree 100%.

No valid reason? Here you go:

Cierre Wood
Tyler Stockton
Shaq Evans, etc.

OR...
Michael Floyd
Ethan Johnson
Golden Tate
Jimmy Clausen
Trevor Robinson
Brian Smith, etc.

All guys Weis recruited, all guys we'd all agree are already studs or have the potential to be. So......recruiting is a valid reason.

I was ready for Weis to be fired, but we wasn't, so I throw all my support behind him and the boys for the next season. And they came through with flying colors vs. Hawaii. Hopefully they'll continue on that path; if not, we all know what will happen, and it will be justifiably so...
