If there was no Notre Dame

If Notre Dame didn't have a football program, who would be your team? Who would you root for? And why?

As I sit here anxiously waiting for kickoff, I find myself bored by just about every other game. I can't think of a team who plays with the class, focuses as much on athletics as they do on academics, has a winning history, as ND does.

There are some underdogs/up-and-comers like Utah, Boise St, Hawaii, but I don't like jumping on bandwagons. I started following the Irish in Lou's 2nd year, when ND wasn't expected to do much.

I guess my house would be cleaner, I'd be in better shape, and have less gray hair with my Saturdays free of ND football. I'm sure glad that's not the case.

If it wasn't for Notre Dame I may not have ever watched football or played. I was born into a notre dame fan and have been every since.

My teams are, have been and always will be barring some major scandal...

1.) Notre Dame (BY FAR)

2.) Kansas
3.) UCLA
4.) Mississppi State
5.) East Carolina

I also tend to root for any school that still puts the school above the football team... Baylor, Duke, UNC, UCLA, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Virginia, Vandy and such....

I really don't know....probably Penn State by default. In eastern/central PA, you pretty much like ND or PSU unless you went to a college in Philly.

Michigan. They're not that far from where I live when compared to other BCS teams and I have a friend that played there before going on to play in the NFL, and I'm also very good friends with a couple of his younger cousins that he's pretty close to.

I'd have NOTHING as my college didn't have a team, my HS folded so they are gone. I follwed Green Bay when Paul and Lobardi are there. Kinda interested in GB from my fried Coach Dan once more that's it. I guess I'd go fishing on Saturdays. Then wonder at those idiots from U of Louisville in red and the KY wildcats in blue are screaming we are number one.

Im 21, i remember watching in the early 90s, i forgot who the kicker was but i think i remember him kicking a really long winner, but i dont think it was gramatica. I might be completely wrong with the kick or hte length though.
