I doubt it. It's not like he was injured, something which is completely beyond his control. RPN played several games, then was suspended by the university (not by Coach Weis) for his DUI conviction, and he made both decisions with his own free will, first to drink, then to drive. As such, this year will likely count against his years of eligibility.
He'll probably graduate with a degree, then take his best shot at the NFL.

No way. RPN will be playing on sunday's next year boys. I see him as a alstott type of player.

The NCAA allows 5 years to play 4. He has played his 4 in 5. In some medical cases (injuries) a 6th year is allowed. RPN was not injured so there is no possibility for a 6th year.
As noted in the previous RPN thread, he may wear a gold helmet in a college all-star game but he will not play again for ND.

He went through the coaching transition, Winter Conditioning, Spring Ball, Preseason Camp, and played in The '05 Season until the University pulled him out of battle. He continued to work out on his own (as he was banned from working with the team by UND) to be ready to contribute to the team when his University imposed suspension was done. And he will graduate with his class.
RPN didn't quit, fake an injury, play poorly or do anything wrong in an ND uniform to warrant the comment above. He made an error in judgement off campus in his home state and payed a stiff price for violating a state traffic law and for a student handbook violation with UND. At 113 Division I universities he would have sat out 1 game - if that. Notre Dame has higher standards and he took his punishment. Had he not been involved in extracurricular activities at UND he would have received no penalty at all from UND.
RPN also publicly apologized and accepted responsibility for his actions unlike Troy Smith's recent quote , "If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't do anything different."
I would expect CW to comment on his year and a half of knowing RPN and vouching for a young man that erred and took his punishment, and whose character grew with the incident. I also expect CW to say something like, "He's a great blocker and has good hands. He's grown through adversity. He's a man you can count on."

I think he could catch on somewhere, but don't expect anyone to use a draft pick on him. I doubt he'll even get invited to the scouting combine having not played in so long.
He'll sign on somewhere as an undrafted free agent (which some people feel may actually make you better off than being drafted in the 7th round, at least you have some flexibility to choose where you wanna go and where you think you'd fit in best) and be a long-term project for some coach who like to utilize the FB. Maybe even Tampa. I think he's got skills, if he works hard and improves his blocking, he could make it as a starter in the NFL. He's already a better runner/reciever out of the backfield than most NFL fullbacks I think.
And I think Charlie would vouch for him. I think Charlie would've let him play in the bowl had the school allowed it. He did something really stupid, but people have been give 8th and 9th chances after doing things far worse, so I think the kid deserves a 2nd chance at the professional level. And a recommendation from Weis would go a long way in that regard for a lot of teams. I'd love the Giants to invite him to camp, they could use a FB who's more of a weapon on offense and can get tough yardage between the tackles in short yardage situations.
