Were you watching the same games I was? If he tried to run he would have fumbled ten or twelve times with that abysmal blocking. Kelly could have rotated Hester and the Rocket back there and the stats would be the same.It really showed on all those great punt returns he had, oh wait I mean fair catches.......
ok a little negative, but come on how can we not have a dymanic return man.
Kelly had so much junk to correct, and so many injuries to contend with, his only option was to have someone who knew how to catch and stop turnovers in the punting game. If he wanted more bodies in the return game, he would have had to burn all the freshman red shirts to fill the gaps.
While I am at it, if we had a QB who could pick up a few first downs so we wouldn't have to punt at almost every third and long, that would be the equivalent of forcing three or four turnovers a game. With almost no exceptions, having a mobile QB (in college football) is necessary if you want to contend for the BCS, let alone for the NC.
And that means Golson and/or Hendricks.
Has anybody noticed how our early signees for the NFL draft have done in the past decade? Except for Bettis (and it took him ten years), not very well.
