Why doesn't the NCAA make it so that in order for a prospect to be offered a scholarship, he has to have a 2.0 gpa, be on pace to take the necessary courses to be admitted to a college, and have an 800 or better on the SAT? (not exactly tough things to do) Most people take the SAT in spring of their junior year, but it is not unusual to do so before then, so obviously if you took it before then and got above an 800 you would qualify. I think if the NCAA passed this it would give kids better motivation to actually pay attention to what has to be done in order to qualify for college so that every SEC team doesn't have to sign 35 man recruiting classes. Maybe to help monitor this, the NCAA could also punish teams who have signed commits who cannot qualify for the school. I dunno just some random idea I thought of. Any thoughts?
