You can question the defense, you can question the coaching, one thing you can not question is their heart. They WILL NOT lose another game this year and that includes their bowl game. I think USC goes on to play for the NC with that defense. We are 2 plays away this season from being 6-0. Fire Charlie Weis? Are you serious? Fire Tenuta. Weis is our guy. John Tenuta is not.

And one more thing, only elite teams lose to USC like that.

I agree 100%. If we can get past BC, I think we run the table from here. And if 10-2 gets us in the BCS or not, well that is really not in our control. And the only reason I worry about BC is because I hope emotionally these guys get back in time. Hopefully playing a team that has beaten us 6 straight will help with that.

Its so much fun to watch Notre Dame play every Saturday because of the raw talent that is on the field. I actually didn't think we would play USC close but we did. Just imagine if we had Floyd healthy for this game.

Agree. People need to realize....USC DOES NOT LOSE BIG GAMES. Besides the loss to Texas and Vince Young in the Rose Bowl, they flat out don't lose these games. Apart from the Gray pick and the couple penalties at the end of the game, we really didn't get any breaks in this game and we still almost won. People are probably gonna laugh, but I think this is a top 10 team and obviously were not gonna be ranked there (or probably in the top 25) next week or anytime soon but I still think its the truth. Barring some let down, we'll be 10-2 at the end of the year with 8 starters back on offense and 10 back on defense. We'll be 11-0 going into USC next year so say "fire weis" all you want Weis haters but that's probably the worst thing we could do right now.

This team is just so much fun to watch. A lot if teams would have given up and called it quits against usc, but these guys didnt. They showed today as they have throughout the year they will continue to play for cw. Awesome effort!!

The offense will be fine next week, but as usual the defense will make it more interesting then it has to be. I am getting a little sick of this Irish defense letting everyone have a career game against us. Barkley didn't throw for over 200 yards this season until the Irish D. Same goes for every other QB we play against. I now that some of you are going to tell me how everyone give ND their best effort. No doubt, but this D makes the opposition so much better then they are! They did give Jimmy and the Boys a chance to win it, but overall they suck, and will make every win a tough one. Especially next week.

As tough as this lose it to swallow I'm very proud of this team. They played there butts off tonight. They have improved after every game. I'm happy with they way they played tonight, but I', not happy with the outcome. I have a feeling they will rebound after this tough lose and finish the season strong.

I agree with the heart comment. Some guys came back from last year with a different attitude. Love the hell out of AA in particular...just will not give up. Attitude makes winners.

NDOM....when you're able to post again, and hopefully sober enough to realize what the hell happened, Charlie Weis is indeed the man to lead this team. I love all of these guys. They played there asses off for their coach and each other. I hope they can recover.

It was disappointing, but all of you are correct about the attitude and heart of these players. I do believe that with Floyd there is a difference. USC;s sacks were coverage sacks,and Clausen had to throw away some balls as well, and you put Floyd in the mix with Tate. That makes the coverage that much more difficult. However, we all know you have to win with the guys you have. We have a team to be proud of with class, character,
dignity and heart. For the Clausen bashers, what more do you want from the kid? I can't help but believe that the players continued to give it their all because they felt they were still in the game, with Clausen at QB they still had a chance.

It isnt heart that wins us close games, or keeps us in close games with top flight programs. It is, quite simply, plain old-fashioned, talent and experience. And almost every key player will be returning next year, where they will likely be even stronger, more athletic, and more experienced.

Today showed me a program who is only 1 year away from becoming perennial NC contenders every season.

But this team...they play 60 minutes man. Last year's team would've folded like a lawn chair in the 4th. These guys buckled down, and took it to the absolute brink. Receiver slips, otherwise we have a very good shot in overtime (assuming Kamara catches it, which, I probably shouldn't assume LOL). It's nice to root for a team and a QB who won't quit no matter what...

yep, the heart in these boys is surely something to behold. i coach high school and travel/club soccer....and usually the team is indicative of the coach's personality. and right now, these boys are playing hard for cw. you gotta love it. i do and saturdays are bringing that ole feeling back that nd is going to bring something special for us fans to witness.

it's a great feeling that i've been missing for a long time.
