I.E. Pro Football Thread

Since almost every topic we have that involves the NFL or ND draft prospects seems to branch off into other topics, I figured I'd be presumptuous and just start a pro football thread.

So we can talk NFL, AFL, CFL, NFLEurope...whatever y'all want in here.

I'll start it off. My NFL teams are the Atlanta Falcons & the San Diego Chargers.

I've been a Falcons fan since the 80's, and a Chargers fam since the early 90's.

I dig Arena football & NFL Europe, and I will always be a Toronto Argonauts fan because of The Rocket.

LOL...hey, some of our boys might go to the next level. Besides, I need someplace to gloat in when Atlanta wins the Super Bowl. And thanx nayers...my ego's getting bigger. I'll be like Mike Martz in no time. :)

i like what you have to say...i don't agree with it for the most part, but you do cause me to think a little bit deeper, and that is the true point of this forum...

Thanks fellas. Now, back on topic...

What are your picks for the weekend's games?

Game #1: St Louis @ Seattle
I hate Martz, but I love Marshall Faulk. But I think the Seahawks will win.
It doesn't really matter, though. Whoever wins this will be one & done.

Game #2: New York Jets @ San Diego
San Diego...Superchargers. I love Herm Edwards, but San Diego is on a roll.

Game #3: Denver @ Indy
The Colts roll in this one.

Game #4: Minnesota @ Green Bay

Favre is so money in the playoffs. Green Bay beats Daunte & the WR that should have been in South Bend. ;)

The only match-up I like this weekend is the Colts-Jets game. The rest of the games don't really do much for me.

Colts/Jets???? They don't even play each other, yet......How about colts/broncos? Yes it's a rematch of the last game of the season but this time the colts will win in their backyard with the starters...

Yeah, Fruedian Slip I guess. :)

I meant Chargers/Jets. I hope New York wins, but I doubt it.

Military did someone say military? 6 years Army 10th Mountain Div, Fort Drum NY, Somalia, Bosnia, Haiti (prefect place for the army's elite cold weather fighting force). And the main things I learned in the Army are 1) the U.N. is a joke 2) I really dont like french people 3) Somali snipers cant hit anything 4) and four its really really hot in africa.

Everyone in NY are pretty down about the Jets. Jets pretty much backed their way into the playoffs. Pennington has got the weakest arm in the NFL, and Paul Hackett is as bad an OC as Bill Diedrick.

I still think they'll beat the Chargers, not sold on the Chargers yet. Jets will contain Tomlinson. Chargers coach( I won't even try to attempt to spell that) never does good in the playoffs. Once the playoffs come around he gets ultra conservative. I remember watching all those Cheif teams that had great regular seasons, but would always choke in the playoffs.

True, Schottenheimer (he was our coach for a while, so I know how to spell it...lol) is very conservative, but I like San Diego in this matchup. LT is one of the best backs in the League, the passing game has improved with the emergence of Brees & Gates (and the pick-up of keenan McCardell). Plus their defense is very underrated.

I'm a fan of Pennington, Martin, & Edwards...but I don't know if the Jets have enough offense to keep up with the Chargers. And their wide recievers are underacheivers (plus Chrebet is banged up). So I think the Chargers will take it 21-13 or something like that.

the bolt is back, baby. the life of a san diego sports fan is long and depressing. i have a blind faith that the chargers will win the superbowl this year. they have the best team on paper, don't they?

Hmmm...now that T.O. is hurt, they just might. Top 5 Running Back, Top 5 Tight End, very good defense, Brees is having a career year, & Schottenheimer is a veteran coach.

The question is, can they go to Pittsburgh or New England in the snow & beat one of those teams to get to the Super Bowl?

I'm rooting for the Colts. Wish my Bears were in, but hey, they're the Bears.

did 4 years in the Marine Corps myself :violent: . got my combat action ribbon in Kosovo with 2nd recon battalion. The UN is a complete and utter failure, French people are sissies, and they should be grateful they are all not speaking German right now, and Australian women party harder than most American men.

they won in cleveland in brutal conditions, but the long touchdown to gates was a fluke, and it was, well, the browns. however, the o-line looked good, tomlinson looked good, and they shouldn't be intimidated by the weather next time around.

gotta beat the jets first. forecast is rain from tomorrow through monday so it's going to be a ground battle, and i have to give LT the advantage over the elderly curtis martin.
