With about a week to go in 2011, what was the biggest or most amazing event of the year to you?

As far as ND goes, the "Aaron Lynch saga" wins hands down (and I am just talking about what happened this year and not the whole decommit part).

For me personally - my daughter being born trumps all. My wife and I also made a life-changing decision for our family that a couple of you know about already and that I'll probably reveal to the IE community in a few months (a few of you will probably be getting a new drinking buddy because of it LOL).

For Irish football - knowing that we were a QB away from a BCS game. Like Philly said, coulda woulda shoulda.

For the world - Obama bin A-Hole getting what was so richly deserved.

For my sports teams - Lakers getting waxed, Angels with zero offense (yet again), ND football underachieving (yet again), UCLA basketball having all 5 starters return but 2 knuckleheads went pro early and another was just kicked off the team, and Abro getting hurt for ND bball; but Barca getting a championship, and the Galaxy finally getting one as well.

Here's to a great 2012 fellas...

Taking large steps to accomplishing my dream.
New bros.
And of course, all the great times I've had and all the great people I've met in my first year on IE!

March 11 – A 9.1-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit the east of Japan, killing 15,840 and leaving another 3,926 missing. Tsunami warnings are issued in 50 countries and territories. Emergencies are declared at four nuclear power plants affected by the quake.

My heart goes out to the Japanese people. This was one of the most horrific natural disasters in modern times. The way in which they've maintained their honor, morals and dignity in the face of such devastation and suffering is a great tribute to their nation and an example for the world to follow.

It's been over 10 years now since one of the scariest moments in American history. Crazy.

May 1 – U.S. President Barack Obama announces that Osama bin Laden, the founder and leader of the militant group Al-Qaeda, has been killed during an American military operation in Pakistan.

Good riddance!
