Here's how our future opponents fared this weekend:
* Michigan over UCONN 30-10 - They looked a lot better than I thought they would. Robinson played his arse off, and has given the Irish faithful a ton to worry about this week.
* Utah over Pitt 27-24 - Wannstedt gets outcoached again in the 4th quarter. No way Pitt should have lost that game, but Whittingham is a fantastic coach who gets the most out of his players, and Utah is tough at home. We'll have our hands full with both of these teams, but luckily we get them both at home.
* Michigan St over W Michigan 38-14 - MSU struggled early, but then pulled away in the 2nd quarter. Like always, this team can run the sh!t out of the ball. Will be a tough team to deal with. (Before the season, this was my first predicted loss for ND.) Western Michigan was overmatched after the 1st quarter and should be no match for ND.
* Stanford over Sacramento St - 52-17 - yawn
* USC - 49-36 over Hawaii - USC's offense looked outstanding against a pathetic defense, and will most likely be a force this season. But their defense looked equally pathetic. Missed tackles, out of position players, and out of shape players caused them to give up almost 600 yards to Hawaii. It was so bad that Hawaii's THIRD STRING QB drove down the field easily against SC's 1st string offense. Oregon will score repeatedly against this defense.
* Tulsa loses to ECU 51-49 - This just finished, and it was a heartbreaker for Tulsa. Hail Mary to win for ECU. I was rooting for Tulsa to help us with our SOS, but they didn't make the key play.
* Army squeaked by Eastern Michigan 31-27 - Not exactly a huge win considering EM was 0-12 last year, but for Army it's always good to get wins. Their new FB had 3 TDs.
* Navy plays Maryland tomorrow.
* Boston College over some school called Weber St 38-20 - never in doubt.
