Didn't want to start a new thread...
Honestly, I'm just looking for reasons to stay interested into the last two month stretch.
Pitt took Phil returning to South Bend away from us.
Clemson likely may not even be ranked, and won't even register as a program building win if we do go there an win.
Stanford is terrible, and will likely be a lose lose situation for us where if we lose it would be an absolute embarrassment for the program and if we win it won't matter one bit.
Sadly this is the biggest downfall of being Independent for me, is that second we're out of the national title chase the entire rest of the season feels like a waste of time.
It may not be the most popular decision ever made, but the 12 Team playoff next year will at least keep more programs interested into the second stretch of the season.
We have a Quarterback that we're not building anything with, and a offensive coordinator the entire fanbase wants fired today, so if he turns things around it may just be a detriment to next seasons prospects.
Also, it feels like most the top end talent of the team won't even be on the roster next season, because of graduation or draft prospects.
Yes, it would be a good for Freeman to go 10-2 and finish with a top ten ranking and likely a NYE 6 bowl game appearance.
If you would have told teenage me that was a ND season fifteen years ago I would have been ecstatic.
It may just be how the landscape of college football has changed since the playoff format was introduced, but honestly even a NYE 6 Bowl appearance means so little to me nowadays as a fan especially when it's likely our best players may sit to secure thier draft spots.
Best of luck to everyone else on the second half of this season.
I'm hoping the boys light another spark for me on Saturday night, and at least bring the Williams hype train to an end.
If they loss to U$C, then it's going to be a miserable closing stretch of the season for this fanbase.
