Let me preface this by saying I enjoy the History channel, especially the military shows they have. BUT.........
Is it me, or do they have a contininuous fascination w/ UFO's, catastrophic earth events from killer volcanos, tsunamis, and meteors/collisions and mega-droughts.
Come on, that stuff isn't history, it's some guy at that channel who has tunnel vision with catastrophies. Enough already.

It goes in cycles, before this it was Hitler everywhere. I think they are doing the UFO's and such because its just that Halloween time of year.

Alarmism sells/attracts an audience. How many movies have been made about a giant meteor barreling down on planet earth only to have hero guy go out an blow it up?

Hey, at least "Ice Road Truckers" is over. How is that history? I regret to say that I watched most of the episodes, and for the most part, nothing ever happened.

Personally, and I may be wrong........but it's the earth is dying routine, which gets everyone aware of the 'global warming crisis' (or their version of it).

I don't know...I think all of their primetime stuff--which is what they advertise--is always sensationalized, but their regular program is usually pretty varied. I enjoy the looks at different religions/cultures throughout time. I am a nerd.

I like history alot, I just don't like the 'fake' futuristic earth is dying crap. If that's true, I'm quitting my job, and drinking beer all day.

Well, they are owned by Disney, which also owns ABC and ESPN. I'mn a big fan of it too, but I also get tired of some of that stuff. I never watched of min of Ice Road Truckers and I never wanted too. it's not just them though. Discovery has a great fascination with the super volcano under Yellowstone. I can't bash the History channel too much though. They did replay the 2 hour special about Superman this afternoon.

Some of the other Discovery channels can be good too. I really like the Military channel, which used to be Discovery Wings, and the Science and National Geographic channels can be good some of the time as well. IU've seen a few things I like on Discovery Times, but most of the time it's just Liberal Propaganda.

What ever happened to the AL Gore Network?

Eh, I don't miss it. I got plenty to do anyway. Besides, I have season tickets to all the home games. The away games I can always go to someone else's place, and I never have to plan the party :)
