Hell... This is his first true group of Seniors. His first class doesn't count. Came in late and had little chance of getting a good group. Next year, if it doesn't work, he is done. But, fuck, don't run this guy out of town yet. We are YOUNG. We are maturing. WE ARE GETTING BETTER.

The first line of my post said I'm not in favor of firing him.

But, fuck, give me a break. Young? The key players on this team--the ones who didn't produce in the red zone today--are juniors and seniors (OL, J. Clausen, G. Tate). The team was 3-9, 7-6, 6-3 which is an aggregate 16-19 in three years. He's been here for five seasons....how long does he get? This is first class of true seniors....yes, good point. And every class, aside from his initial class, was highly touted. And this is what we get.

A win is a win, I believe that and always will. But you can't be blind to the fact that this team could be 2-7 right now. They could also be 9-0. But close wins over dog shit teams like Purdue, Michigan State and Washington aren't victories you can hang your hat on.

You CW apologists are long on excuses and reproaches against those who want CW fired; you're also all woefully lacking in the ability to provide reasons he should keep his job.

I say to the administration of ND: Keep Weis but inconspicuously sniff around for other coaches. The one and only thing I don't like about CW is that he's too prideful. He told the Chicago Tribune after the game tonight "I never, ever change. I coach the way I coach every week and I'm not going to change and they know that". When you're 16-19 in the past three seasons you probably need to explore changing the way you do things. Or at least don't show such unwarranted hubris.

Actually, Ty wasn't all that great at Stanford. He wasn't really bad, but he was kind of mediocre:

Looking back on it, I'm not even sure why he was considered such a good hire, other than having been moderately successful at a school known as one of the most demanding academic schools in the country.

Mark Richt is an absolutely horrendous coach, who hasn't really ever been in the national championship picture, and only wins the east only when there is really no other contender (i.e. florida and Tennessee on bad year.). .

Well Charlie Weis has been to two BCS bowls and he's never lost to San Diego State or Nevada. He's also led the team to a top 3 finish in the vaunted BCS Independents Conference every year he's been at the school.

We need a new DC more than we need a coach. Granted....Charlie didn't call a very good game today and the offensive execution was just severely lacking. The major problem today was the defense. They anticipated the scheme Tenuta would run and shredded it. When Tenuta saw that they were shredded it, he made no adjustments or maybe he couldn't. You get the sense that players aren't really trusting what Tenuta is selling. Tenuta is not playing to the strengths of his personnel and at times it looks like the round peg/square hole syndrome. He needs to be politely ushered out the door and let's see if we can steal a DC from the SEC. What looked to be a great hire has turned into a disaster. We've got plenty of talent on that side of the ball. There's no reason they should be shredded for 350 yds by Navy. I will say one more thing...when Navy doesn't fear ND, that's a major, major problem. Shows you how far this program has to go to get anywhere close to the Holtz era. They are average at best right now. I don't want a new head coach though. That means we could get another down year or two of recruiting due to ANOTHER coaching change.

Charlie Weis hired Tenuta. You all talk like there is no captain at the helm of this ship. People, Charlie Weis is in charge of the defense: He's the head coach. He wasn't hired to be Notre Dame's offensive coordinator. Notre Dame's defense and offense aren't exclusive entities, they, combined with the special teams, comprise Notre Dame's football team. The man in charge of Notre Dame's football team is Charlie Weis. Stop talking about this like he just some assistant who is doing a great job but being let down by the other assistants. He's responsible for the entire team!! GET IT??

Give him credit: I've seen more than one person repeatedly use their in place of there. One would like to consider the errors as isolated incidents, but I've seen people make the mistake over-and-over in the same post.
