Well, I think every point is valid. Each person just has a different perspective. I think the more violent movies, games, music gets, the more de-sensitized people become...leading to even more violence.

If you don't want a gun, don't buy one. But I don't blame those who keep them at home (safely) for protection.

As far as a bat goes.....sounds good, but I'd rather nail a guy farther away if it came to that.

If I could hit a bullet flying over 200 miles per second w/ a baseball bat, I'm pretty sure I could make a lot of cabbage in the MLB.

loaded gun vs. bat = gun wins everytime

I used to play violent video games and they were all good fun. I've never watched any of the disgustingly sadistic movies that have come out recently. However, I can't help but wonder, how do those movies not mess someone up? Maybe its our society where some of us gravitate to that shit. But I find it distubing that the most popular movies the past few years are "How F--ked Up Can You Die?"

Well, he gave me some Jello once... and it was red and it tasted good and i really liked it and i thought about making my own box and i asked him where i could get it and he said that i didnt have to get it anyway and that i could if i wanted to but that he could make it for me whenever i wanted and all i had to do was call him and he would have someone bring it over and i could ask for any color i wanted and it didn't have to be red, but i like red.

Cool story ;)

I just wanted to say that I appreciate all of your opinion's/views. None of us feel exactly the same way about this stuff, or anything. But it's nice to see that there is understanding out there for other people, and that NOTHING is as simple as a bumper sticker.

i don't own a gun (mainly because there are children in the house) but i would wish i did if someone broke into my home...i fully support the right for arms...remember, one of the first acts hitler enacted was to disarm the public - and our founding fathers said (after their successful revolution) if you don't like this government take up arms against it and start a new one

Stoney, I was at a Christmas party last night and a woman told a story about a break in at their house.

Her husband had been installing bookshelves and when he heard the alarm go off, started firing at the guy from the upstairs landing with the nailgun he had use that day. She wasn't sure how far the nails actually went but it scared the guy out the door.

Dang.

I guess it depends on the perp. Some avoid contact, and some just look for trouble, or at least aren't afraid to confront others.

I'm a little late to the party on this one, but I'll throw my two cents in.
I voted the first option that a gun is okay for home use.

That said, I don't own one. I really don't have the need for it.

I would feel pretty bad for the poor schmuck that tried to break into my house. I own 3 dogs, all of which could do major damage... but my Pit bull in particular would make pretty short work out of most people. I live next to a Sheriff as well. and last but not least, the Lord created me with the most jacked up sense of fight or flight.... I really don't have the "flight" part.... So even if the intruder was armed, he'd be tangled up with my pit while I was whipping his ass with a golf club.

In the end, an intruder might do some damage, but I guarantee he'd leave wishing he passed on my house.

The government has spent billions, perhaps close to a trillion dollars over the years in an attempt to get a handle on the illegal drug trade. Are we any better off with the availability of drugs than when we started this "war"? Imagine if you will the cost of a war on guns! Especially when the 2nd Amendment directly addresses gun ownership. Sometimes one's battles have to be chosen wisely.

I work in a building just northeast of the loop that surrounds Westroads Mall here in Omaha. The day of the shootings was absolutely surreal. All at once, myself and some coworkers noticed there was a large group of people running from the JC Penney/Dick's Sporting Goods exit. Something was obviously terribly wrong. Many of the "evacuees" sought shelter from the cold in our lobby. Of all that went on that day, perhaps the most surreal moment came when the hairdresser from JC Penney's continued a hair dye job for some lady in the lobby of our offices. It was unbelievable.

When a person is determined to commit suicide and take innocent folks with them, in my opinion, there is no stopping them. Whether legal or illegal, a person will find a gun if that's the instrument of choice.

I know that I react to the whole gun debate on a visceral level and not soley on facts. Having had kids in high school when Columbine occured and then in college after the Virginia Tech shootings along with teaching little ones tends to color my opinion.

However, i am not for banning guns. I just think buying and owning one should be more regulated. You have to take classes, tests etc to prove you can handle a car, why not a gun? It wouldn't stop all the problems of course but would at least make it seem a little bit more serious than just waltzing into Wal-mart and buying one.

actually I've not seen any Wal-marts that carry handguns. May be just in this area though.

How do I know, I made it up. Walmart is cool tho. My wife and I found a bunch of stocking stuffers and paid like 30 bucks. Awesome! LOL

The Wal-Mart has to have a special license. Kennesaw GA has a law that everyone living in the city limits HAS to own a gun so I bet their local Wal-Mart sells them.
