I've been a reader on here for a while now, not sure if there are many avid Packers fans on this site. I dug and dug for a Packers thread and couldn't find one, so we'll see how long the shelf life is on this discussion. In case you're out there, and want to discuss the GBP, or want to talk about how delicious cheese curds are and how they should be a national phenomenon, I'm all ears.
I have mixed feelings about their draft. I was praying going in they would draft ESB with their need to bulk up at WR depth, so I was super pumped when they "stole" him in the 6th. They addressed the biggest need in CB, but ignored the need for a pass rusher and they didn't really address the OL in the draft or in FA for the most part (Other than Cole Madison out of Wazzu and signing Byron Bell...yawn). They really whiffed on their weakest position, CB, in FA. I was hoping for a solid play maker pickup to compliment a rookie or two in the draft. Unless Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson are the real deal, and it's always tough to lean on rookies at that position, I don't know how much better they can expect their defense to play to support the offense.
I'm excited to see Jimmy Graham catching passes from AR. I think they're going to be phenomenal in the red zone and in the middle of the field. Davante Adams looks poised to break out as the #1 WR, and Cobb needs to stay healthy. They have the deepest stable of RBs in a while, with no true feature back, but they compliment each other well with Jones, Williams, and Montgomery.
With that, this is the most uncertain I've ever been heading into the season with an Aaron Rodgers led squad. With #12 back there, they have a shot to win any game. However...this division has become sneaky tough. Minnesota has arguably the most balanced roster in the NFC, Detroit and Stafford are always a tough out if you get into a shoot out, and Chicago got really aggressive in FA and improved quite a bit. Even if they outlast the division competition and reach the playoffs, NO, Atl, and LAR are real legitimate contenders after solid off seasons as well. I haven't even mentioned the defending SB Champ Eagles yet.
ALL that being said...they're obviously your Super Bowl LIII champs
