I would hardly say that. Sure its nice to hear your name called. It guarantees you nothing though.

At least you get a contract with some guaranteed money before you even start training camp. Besides, you wouldn't get drafted by a team if there's a logjam at the position. If you're drafted, then it generally means that you're going to a team that needs you.

I don't think I have ever felt so bad for a player as I did when I saw him in tears. He seems like a hard working person with a great deal of humility. My prayers are with him.

I 100% agree with this. Before kickoff I tweeted him, not for any response mind you, but because he's become my favorite senior...even over Mike. The guy that was pretty much left for dead by most of us (myself included) after his past seasons, and week one, came back and became such a great football player. You wanna talk about player development? Look at Jonas.

And then to see him like that on the sideline made me sick to my stomach and brought tears to my eyes. Yeah, I was/am somewhat inebriated...but damn it if I don't feel horrible for the kid. If you ever needed proof that life ain't fair, this is it.

I had the same reaction, and I'm stone sober. :(

I felt so bad for Jonas. He was far from my favorite player at the beginning of the season, and the usf game did little to alleviate that, but he has since become one of my favorite players. Hopefully, he'll be able to recover in time for Pro Days and the Combine. I'm pretty sure Dayne recovered from his ACL ahead of schedule and in time for Spring training, so Jonas could recover in time for the combine.

You have much better job security if you're drafted.

You have much better job security if you can play and show it. Any one who is not a 1 or 2 nd round pick is in jeopardy of getting cut. Too bad for Gray. Here is hoping he is able to recover and have a solid NFL career. Seems like a great guy/teammate.

He wasn't red shirted his freshman year was he?

Unfortunately, no. He got a measly 21 carries his freshman year but it still burns up a year of eligibility. What a shame...another player in a long list of players who shouldn't have seen the field his freshman year.

Well, Im hoping the 2 young backs can help pull off an amazing win against Stanford... I'm also hoping the defense can help tearing up Stanford... With Luck and his amazing field of vision I'm hoping Teo and Harrison can shut down the offense.

Getting drafted or being picked up as a free agent isn't the main concern. It's the fact that he might miss all of next season without a team then enter camp as an extra body getting a "look".
Those are the guys that have the hardest time making the team.
There wasn't a pick spent on them, the contract isn't guaranteed, and he hasn't played in a year.
This is why I'm hoping it's "sprained", yes, I know a spain is a minor tear, not completely blown out.
The minor tear can be rehabbed and he cam compete for a job NEXT season.

IF Jonas makes a full recovery, he may have a better opportunity than is generally stated here. NFL scouts/coaches are no fools; they've been watching; they know what he can do. If he can get his body back together, I'll bet that he's picked up and ultimately makes a team easily.

Yeah you're right, but it's just that his future was so much brighter (and seemingly easier) just 24 hours ago.

He is better than any back the Colts currently have.

Kelly just confirmed Jonas is done for the year. Said Riddick could play some at RB if he's healthy.

Jonas is a great story for the Irish this year, but the thing that impressed me most was that he was the heart of the offense. I think it's time for Wood to step up and show he can handle most of the carries and I am taking Cam over GAIII, I think GAIII is going to be a better WR. I wish Jonas a safe, speedy, and healthy recovery. It was fun watching him play this year.

it would be interesting to see Riddick back there again if he's healthy.

You have to feel for Jonas....just when everything started to look up and now this. Even if he rehabs quickly, Jonas probably misses all of NFL training camp which could make his chances even more difficult. As we know, the NFL is a business so he needs someone to take a chance and put him on a practice squad while he works his way back into shape.

BTW I think after witnessing this it all but seals Manti's entry into the NFL draft.

Players react differently to seeing others get injured.

If it impacts any player I hope it's Keith Marshall would will see how close they all are from seeing their NFL dreams end and value getting an ND degree even more!!!
