Golson in the future?

This is mainly just for fun, but really, what is Golson's ceiling? He has great armstrength, great running ability (this can be a detriment if he falls in love with the run but he looks to throw first), his ability to grasp the offense in the next three games heading into USC will be interesting to watch.

So has it been announced that he is starting against Pitt? Or is it Reese?

Hahahahah Anytime I get a chance to keep using that joke, I will

Wait until we lose our first game of the Golson era and the IE masses start screaming bloody murder for Kiel.

Your right but that is flat out ridiculous, If Golson is the QB all year and BK doesn't open that job up next year, Kiel will transfer back to IU. You don't recruit the number one QB in the nation and sit him for three years to start one. Nor do you come to a school as a top recruit to be a backup....

Holy Jesus. Golson will be the starter the next 3 years barring injury. You peopke seriously need to get off the Keil bandwagon he's really not that great and is unproven.

I believe BK went on record saying QB competition is open every year. I'm not a betting man, but IF Gunner is the real deal, he will see time next year. With our schedule next year front loaded, we'll likely see GK in decent doses after the USC game. Not starting, but gaining experience. At that point, QB competition will be real interesting in 2014. If EG continues to improve, and GK is the real deal, the thought of a two headed monster is pretty attractive. I'm not a 2-QB system fan, but I could come around with these two talents. Conversely, a little uneasy that we can keep EG, GK, and MZ all in the fold over the next 3 years. Great problem to have.

to use a frequent phrase on this board....
You serious Clark?

No one can predict, and to say GK is not that great right now is plain funny. It will all play out. Me, I hope both end up being studs and we all debate this for the next 3 years.

So next year, our QB situaish will look like Golson, Tommy, Hendrix, Gunner, and Zaire. It might as well be a QB camp!

I don't understand this post....lose? Golson doesn't understand the concept. 4 straight undefeated seasons!

I remember when Golson was considering flipping from UNC to ND. I wanted him simply because he seemed to be a flat-out winner.

Excuse me now, I'm going to go knock on some wood.

He is a winner, Don't know the numbers per say but he won 2 or 3 three state championships as a QB in HS and one in basketball believe...

Should I rename the thread...."Future QB controversy for no other reason than entertainment"

Size and injuries are Golson's problems. Can he hold up for a13game season? If not, who plays? Kiel has the size and I suspect the talent to stand up.
Consider Denard Robinsen: full season? Not hardly.

No offense, but denard and Golson are far from the same product, not even close in mind....Denard ran first threw second. Golson runs when it is either designed or out of necessity. Golson has three times the throwing prowess that denard ever dreamt about....

What a crock of crap. So a #1 QB would never sit for a couple years at Notre Dame, but a #1 QB would want to play at IU?

Some of the things you guys try to predict are hilarious.

I think he is just talking about Qb's who run in general. In just what 7 games EG has been knocked out a few times. His body can't take the pounding and that's not his game IMO.

If I remember right he was studying film of Drew Brees. That is the QB he is trying to be.

If you follow recruiting at all....that was his original commitment prior to flipping to LSU then to ND....He is from southern Indiana....Columbus to be exact...and his brother plays there now...soooo, call me crazy....its logical....

Part of that is learning how to slide or just avoid contact...run gain a few yards avoid pressure but don't try and win the game on a 1st down scramble....but comparing him to a guy who sets NCAA records for running as a QB is not quite what I had in mind...

I really think Kiel was over ranked last year. Watching him I didn't see anything that made him an elite can't miss prospect. That's just my opinion. The thing is golson will only get better with his reads. Like I said barring injury golson will be the starter the next 3 years.

Yep, nice depth chart. EG starting and plain killing it, GK learning and getting PT in mop up, TR there for clutch..... and hopefully MZ being patient and learning the play book. I don't see much for Hendrix unless he changes positions. With his degree, I don't see him leaving.

Good point. I never thought about that for Hendrix. I wonder if he'd be willing to. He's obviously a great athlete and could play another position if he set his mind to it.

That play where Jefferson crushed him, he had no chance of sliding/avoiding contact. Running up the middle with him scares me.

After OU I doubt we bring in a "closer" QB again... this year or next.

IDK, the tape I watched along with UGA, AL, LSU, UF, UM, MSt, OK, SU, UT, USC, and Wisc looked pretty darn good. Not to mention the Elite 11 comp.

Not so fast my friend :). If EG struggled late, BK brings TR in. YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME..... lol. Believe me, I'm an EG guy, but I don't think BK has ruled anything out. 1 good game does not cement the position IMO.
