Remarkable man. Excelled in his field. Shunned the media spotlight in retirement. Politically independent.

I may have made my reputation as a general in the Army and I'm very proud of that. But I've always felt that I was more than one-dimensional. I'd like to think I'm a caring human being. ... It's nice to feel that you have a purpose.

Yeah, I saw that just a little while ago. I wasn't even aware he'd been sick. Former President George H. W. Bush may be next. Not looking good for him either.
