IrishSportsDaily puts out 'report cards' for each game we play, and each position group is given a grade. Here's a look at the grades so far. Obviously I haven't included the justifications for the grades (though the articles are linked below), but I wanted to see if this provides a different perspective on the team. Does the distribution of any of these grades surprise you? Give you confidence? Make you worried? (or maybe they're all pretty meaningless?)

I would probably give Golson an A-, and maybe give the RBs a B+. Of course it is weighed considering that the Michigan State defense is a very, very good one.

Agreed. I would give Golson an A- simply for the fact that HE DIDN'T TURN THE BALL OVER.

The C+ grade for our tight ends in the MSU game is probably lower than deserved. The MSU defense was designed to take Tyler Eifert out of the passing game, but on several occasions I watched the tight ends blocking for some key gains in the second half running attack that prevented MSU from getting back into the game. I'd give our tight ends a B+ for that game based upon the blocking.

Also, the D for our offensive line against Purdue is lower than deserved. I would have given them a C. It wasn't their best game, but Purdue stacked the defense to stop the run and it's a little difficult for five linemen to block eight defenders. Purdue was waiting for Golson to make a key mistake. He did fumble, and it led to one touchdown. Purdue's defense was successful in shutting down the running game and forcing Golson to produce through the air.

Otherwise, I see no problem with the grades.
