I think he will get in the discussion. He will have an ass of balls thrown his way all year and will end up having crabtree like stats. What say the masses?
Not a chance. There are a shitload of talent at WR this year with Julio Jones, Jonathan Baldwin, Damaryius Thomas, and AJ Green all very good receivers. Plus, it is very hard for a wide receiver to win the Heisman. I think that last person WR to win a heisman was Charles Woodson and he returned punts as well. Desmond Howard also returned punts.
I doubt any of the players I listed above will win. Most likely a QB or RB.
People overestimate Kelly's "pass happy" offense. They had more rushing yards than we did last year. His starting quarterbacks usually finish in the 2,900-3,100 yard range.
Floyd's production will not skyrocket, it's going to end up around 1,000 yards, not 1,500 or 2,000 as some believe.
If that isn't enough for you:
Michael Crabtree stats, 2007:
134 catches
1,962 yards
22 TDs
New York invite: No
Dez Bryant stats, 2008:
87 catches
1,480 yards
19 TDs
New York invite: No
Golden Tate stats, 2009 (widely considered a "down year" for the Heisman, the leader changing almost every week)
93 catches
1,496 yards
15 TDs
2 rushing TDs
1 PR TD
New York invite: No
He'll need like 2,000 yards and 20 TDs to even make it to NY.
Julio Jones is hugely overrated, Baldwin will not put up the numbers and his team will not get him a lot of attention, Thomas is in the NFL, and Green does not play in an offense that passes too often and is breaking in a new quarterback. Needless to say, I still think Floyd has no real chance.
And Woodson was a cornerback. I thought that was common knowledge.
Yes, Howard did return punts. So did Tim Brown.
Bwahahahahahahahaha......Well played. Ol' Reg and that other moron that posts nothing but buttercups and rainbow dreams about Dion Lewis would have figured that out, but they're too busy swinging from Wanny's and Kiffy's short Hairs.
By the way, I think Rosie Greer got screwed by the Heisman committee his senior year at the University of Buffalo when he was the wedge buster.
Dude had game.... (Where did Rosie Greer go to school anyways???) lol

He played WR also, I thought that was common knowledge.
I think Baldwin is the best WR in CFB. He makes crazy plays, has the best hands, and will probably be the first WR chosen in the draft because of his athletic ability. The dude is like 6'5 and has like a 44" vertical.

Yes, Woodson primarily won it for defense, but he did play WR occasionally so technically he was the last WR to win it.
I think Floyd would have to average 100 ypg, 15 TD's and ND has to at least go 10-2 and make it to a BCS. If he puts up those type numbers, he will get consideration and still probably lose out to a QB or RB.
If your name isn't QB or RB, then chances are you don't have a chance.
Wide receivers don't win the Heisman. Period.
Reggie Bush, how can you seriously claim to be an Irish fan? Thats like a man named Lucifer going to church son... (The devil never misses a service, momma says)
Regardless, did you know that you claimed 100 ypg would be good enough to make heisman? 100 ypg * 12 games = 1200 yards for the season. This is a great amount, but something EASILY achievable. So is 10-2 for the Irish. Unlikely but attainable. Lastly, 10-2 will get us into BCS land but ND needs NC status to quench the haters for winning a Heisman.
I do think Heisman talk for Floyd will happen, but it's only smoke and mirrors though. We'll be hard pressed for him to make the trip. Even with the stats you think needed to capture it plus 500 yards total.
You really gotta change that name. I'll donate the vBucks needed to complete such a transaction. Let me know when you're ready for the procedure.
Baldwin is not the best WR in CFB. The dude fell flat on his face in the second half against Cincinatti, specifically when they needed a score to get the lead back when Cinci tied the game in the middle of the fourth. He had one catch for 17 yards against Rutgers, and one catch for five yards against Syracuse, then finished the 2009 season by getting shut down by the best defense in the nation: North Carolina (3 catches, 31 yards). He may be crazy athletic and he may have great ups, but he is simply not that fast and not a dominant receiver. Against a fast and aggressive UNC defense, he couldn't dominate. He does not have the top end speed and has trouble separating. He will probably run in the the late 4.5/early 4.6 range and that will drop him down draft boards. Green and Floyd are better.
Many people have NFL draft in this order:
1. AJ Green
2. Julio Jones
3. Jonathan Baldwin
4. Michael Floyd
5. Ryan Broyles
Some even have that kid Toliver from LSU before Floyd.
Also, Floyd (4.49) and Baldwin (4.50) run pretty much the same speed like many bigger receivers. I believe Julio Jones is the only larger WR that runs closer to 4.4.
