Damnit, we cant lose him, even though its not right to let him have a free pass. Guess he was just unlucky and got caught, but its not like 95% of underage kids dont drink, well guess i will be hearing about this on espn for next 5 months

Perhaps the most common crime for college kids. I was cited myself when I was 19. I had to do community service every weekend for a month.

This blows. I can't even imagine the damage it would do on the field and to our recruiting class if we lost our best player due to this.

Floyd's punishment will probably be applied in the spring, as stated earlier in the thread.

I hope so man...

It's just that the Yeatman/Fauria situations have me on the edge anytime something like this comes up.

I doubt it. Yeatman had a D.U.I (or two), which is much more serious.

Remember, Clausen was cited in June of 2007 because he drove his brother to get alcohol.

Really wanna see how Kelly handles this. I know reslife runs the show, but there's no way Floyd gets nothing from BK on this one

I'll be upset if it was a serious punishment that costs him time. It's not even underaged intoxication. C'mon, man.

If ResLife costs him any time in practice or God forbid in actual gametime I hope they get beaten with a cane by the ghost of Andrew Jackson. Screw those holier than thou asswipes.

I think it's important that Kelly/res etc, get to hear both sides of the story/all the facts, before we pass complete judgment on Floyd.

Either way, drinking under age, "is what it is", we can't be seen to play favorites, even if it comes at our expense, this will be a huge issue regarding the recruits we're still targeting, especially to the parents I'd imagine.

Players stepped up when we lost Floyd last season, if needs be, someone will have the opportunity to do it again.

Go Irish!!!

I mean I know what floyd did was wrong, but are these guys not aloud to get in a fight, are they not allowed to drink. Ino it was underage, and it's not right, but they got to give him a little slack

I don't think any student should be severely punished for something like this. It could also hurt recruiting if they give him a harsh punishment...

Atleast he's not robbing, smoking weed, driving drunk, caught with guns or accepting houses and Land Rovers. What college kid doesn't drink.

In reply to a couple of the above posts:

According to du Lac, the Student Handbook, possession of controlled substances including marijuana and driving while impaired/intoxicated, etc. are viewed as much more serious violations with prescribed disciplinary measures.

Under age consumption of alcohol is a violation of res life policy but without intoxication or other serious aggravating factors there is not a prescribed punishment that I can see. It does not make a distinction between consumption on or off campus.

It would seem that with a first offense and no aggravating factors, discipline from Res Life would be relatively light.

If I were #3, I would be more worried about the rath of BK right now.

I don't see how Res Life, ND, ND football, or Kelly has anything to do with this at all. He was in a different city in a different state. Was not at all school related. Seems to me it's up to the local judge to dole out the fine, then everyone moves on. To think he would lose any playing time or practice time over this is ridiculous. Had nothing to do with a football game or the U of ND.
