Good read. I found that last part of the article interesting. The guys, as Te'o testified too, were too anxious for graduation and the NFL instead of National Championships and their time at Notre Dame.

I was shocked and discussed by that news.. How can a ND player worry about the NFL more than their team.

Besides, I wonder who would be discussing the NFL anyway, because Tate and Clausen are really the only two with high NFL expectations... I'm not saying these two are guilty, because others might have been concerned about just making it to the next level... However, if Tate and Clausen were worrying about the NFL during their season at Notre Dame, I would be furious that ND's two offense leaders aren't always consciously focused on their team.

I truly hope Tate and Clausen were not the ones anticipating graduation so they can enter the NFL.

I spent a bit of time at ND this fall and with Golden (seeing him there this weekend actually).. and i can GUARANTEE that he was not worried about the NFL at any point. He was loving college and playing for ND! Never heard him mention NFL once!

Well that is good news. Tate seems like a great guy, and I understand his reasoning for leaving. His numbers were surely going to decline with Clausen gone. So, it is the right move financially.

I doubt Clausen talked about the NFL too, but who knows..

My dad talked to Evan Sharpley about Clausen, and Evan didn't seem to think to highly about Jimmy... But Maybe that is just because of QB battling tension.

One thing is for sure, Coach Kelly is going to have his players focused on Notre Dame football.

The Nfl is important but that comes after winning it is important to have your priorities straight when playing rivals it doesnt mean as much if you are just thinking next level

One thing I'd say about Clausen and Tate this past season, is that they seem to have left everything out on the field. Judging purely on their performance they didn't look distracted. Offensively we were heavily dependent upon them and they didn't let anyone down.

I agree

I agree

i agree 100% tate and clausen left it all on the field. i just wonder if the team felt like they were playing for a nfl coach and a audition for the the nfl?

These players should consider themselves lucky. Not only to step on field at Notre Dame Stadium to have the chance to put on a show in front of millions, but to earn a degree from Notre Dame, and also have the opportunity to spend 4 years at the best University.
The thing about Weis is that he had no college experience before ND. Kelly does have experience in college football and I think that will show on Saturdays.

I just have a good feeling that Kelly and his staff are going to instill much needed dicipline into the players mind-set, have a high level of focus to detail and have them more fundamentally sound than we've seen from ND players for a LONG time! Gotta love that from this NEW regime!

i LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!

i really was luke warm on kelly because of his offensive style and lack of defense at cinci but this guy has me drinking the kool aid right now.

time will tell but a solid foundation appears to be getting laid down. now if we can just get him to run the option out of the i formation i will be in heaven :)
