Kelly will be a GREAT hire. The SAD but true part is that Edsalls name is in the mix. If we hire this guy I officially stop supporting this university. It will be another 5 years of misery, IF he even coaches that long. Edsall is Uconns coach. Nothing special trust me. Besides the fact that they beat us. But who doesnt?

I agree. Is he my first choice? Hell no. But he is a fiery guy who will be alot of emotion to the sideline and locker room, something we need desperately. His teams play hard nosed football, they run the ball effectively. Do you realize what he and his team have been through this year? And look how many close games that they lost. If they dont have to go through losing a teamate they probably win 9 games this year. And has anyone ever been to Hartford? Sorry if people live there but it as bad as South Bend, and the facilities at UCONN arent even close to what he will have at ND.

i dont know how it would work out, but no one knows that about Kelly, either. there are only a select number of guys out there who can coach, recruit, and maybe most importantly, embrace this job and the tremendous pressure that will come with it.

i just think there is an internal mental toughness required for this job that we cant measure by talking about records, scores, conferences, rankings etc.......

it is that immeasurable thing that i think will make someone like Jim Harbaugh a great coach wherever he goes.

Edsall may have just what it takes to succeed here. i dont know, and neither does anyone else.

I have alot of respect for both Brian Kelly and Randy Edsall for taking no name college football programs and building them into something, although in BK's case he didn't do all the groundwork (Mark D'Antonio helped some). The hoopla around this coaching search is absolute madness, I feel like I'm back during this time last year before the election. Obama this, McCain that, it's all really disheartening and the excitement I first felt when it was official that CW was out has since faded and now I just want it to be over before I purchase a semi-automatic pump shotgun and start hunting down people wearing Michigan and USC gear.

I have no problem with Edsall... I said a week ago, I had a preminition about him the night he beat us.

Look at Holtz's record at Minnesota... Hell, Ara went 5-4 the year before we hired him... had a losing record in 8 years at NW.

We got talent... we can get talent.... and despite what detractors say, with the talent we get we just need a strong coach who can coach fundamentals, bring a good running game, and take advantage of his passing talent. That doesn't sound too unlike Edsall.

After all... WE ARE ND!!!!!!
