I'm evaluating all of the modules on the front page to see if they are used frequently as I plan to remove those that are not. We're start with the "Current Hot Topics" module. Do you use the "Current Hot Topics" section on the main IrishEnvy.com index page?

I used to use it when I first joined, but then it became clear that the hot topics list never changes basically. What I would hope a hot topics list would do is list a couple of controversial but family-fun friendly topics, but there is no way for a computer to (Easily) figure out what is controversial.

So I used to use it, but stopped using it when I always would see Arrelious Benn's thread in there, etc.

There it is.
I've always seen it but never really noticed it, if that makes any sense.

Thanks for the response... and that actually is a pretty cool idea. If people rated the threads more frequently, I could actually pull them based on activity and rating, which would somewhat take away the computer element.

The module is written to pull the X number of topics that have the most responses and have recent activity. It sounds like few use it, so I probably will pull it in lieu of something else.

I hit "New Posts" when I fire up the board. Then I cruise all the topics posted...

There's three particular forums on here that I read, so all I do is go to all 3 of them and just read any threads that have had new posts since the last time I logged on. I VERY rarely check out any of the other forums. As such, I really have no use for a "hot topics" list or "recent posts" list, since they're likely to be cluttered with threads from the other forums that I don't normally read.

That said, the three forums that I DO read provide me plenty of reading and entertainment. I probably still spend too much time on here. ;)

I usually just scan through the new posts or look at a few familiar forums.
