Yeah, it's amazing that this happens, but it's not a surprise. The soldiers coming back from Iraq have been pretty much ignored or poorly treated. The cases of PTSD are through the roof, but again, they are mostly ignored.

That is an isolated incident. The military does a good job overall of keeping it's troops in good welfare. I'm sure that Privitization is or has been in the process for that building before that film was made.

I couldn't disagree more you could get disibility for a hang nail if you push the system hard enough. There are alot of cases of PTSD and the VA is trying to catch up.

I just don't like us spending all this money over there, when we don't take care of our soldiers. I don't care if this doesn't happen very often, it shouldn't happen at all.

Whether it is an isolated incident or not, this should never happen to our soldiers! We, as Americans, should all be embarrassed by this film.

Isolated? No. Not even close. My ex-boss is a current Lt Col...he would be happy to share with you similiar stories.

My brother in law to be, father in law to be and OTHER brother in law to be as well as one cousin and one uncle have all served in the gulf since the first war and all but the father in law have done one since 9/11

all I have spoken to on this issue (military hosp. and vet affairs) have the same exact feelings... military hospitals are a complete joke and have been since at least the Clinton era... but the gov. does what they can to help you if you ask for the help

as for barracks the father in law is a former drill sargent and would prob. be appalled

$400 million a DAY in Iraq, and the soldiers are ignored and stop-lossed. Makes me sick.

You guys really need to stop believing everything you see on tv. We were stop loss-ed for a extremely short amount of time because when the shit hit the fan everyone wanted out/ You can't just let everyone out at once each career field has a quota of people they have to retain. plain and simple we can't fall below our quotas. Like I said everything on tv is glorified.

What branch are you in? I'm just curious, I'm probably going to join the military, I'm thinking more Navy now.

Cool. I've had a few aunts, uncles and cousins in the AF. Seems like it would be a fun career, even if I can't fly.

That explains EVERYTHING...the USAF has the best facilities in the American Military bar none.

Go talk to some Army Reservists and ask them how they lived.

you know what... shut up. i was in the marine corps. are the conditions bad yes but the military isnt a luxury cruise. you prepare for war. to go fight and possibly die. war is hell i did two tours in iraq when the shit hit the fan. invasion, fallujia, najaf all of it. stop loss happens when there is a dire need for military (all kinds to include supply, truck drivers and infantry) perasonel. you sign a contract and its something you have to live up to. they train you to do your job in war. everybody thinks that oh ill just do my time and get out. but when time came to do your job alot of people were about to get out and didnt want to go to war. dont blame them but the country needed a little overtime from them. it sucks but ITS YOUR DAMN JOB! oh and lmi they were reservist so boohoo. they do it part time. talk to the guys who live the lifestyle not just play weekend warrior. im sure the building is in the process of being torn down or it may have just been a part time overflow holding area. you dont know what the story is. dont believe the communist news network (cnn) or any of the media because they just tell you half storys and partial truths. just say thanks when you see a military member and tell him we're all behind you guys.

They were reservists, it's true. But my boss did his tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq. And when he came back with his men, he was none to happy about how they were treated.

And no, that area was not overflow or in the process of being torn down. Even the General in the article acknowledges that.

In this country we are very cavalier about our military and it's unfortunate, they deserve to be treated better.

well then it just sucks but, reservist are usually processed back to the civilian world in a couple weeks. they are only there for a couple weeks. tell your boss to suck it up and get over it. yeah they didnt get proper facilities. i lived in a barracks where water was coming through walls and toilet water ran up through the shower drain. you just had to say damn thats gross and report it. use someone elses shower or go to the gym and use thier shower. the military isnt bad. they have alot going on now so sometimes stuff falls to the wayside. compared to what iraq was for me anyways, i could have came home to a porto-potty and i would have been happy about it. tell them to be happy they came home and thanks for thier services.

LMI are you serious. This is a whole different issue your talking about. Every branch lives in the shit in Iraq or Afganastan so what. We are the ones that raised our right hands under oath to protect our country. Our home bases aren't nearly as bad as they a being portraited. Life is pretty darn good for us actually. I own a 200,000 dollar house and drive a 2006 pontiac G6. I would venture to say that's just as good if not better than most people that post on this site. Once again these are the facts coming from someone who has served in Japan, Kuwait and Iraq. Oh yeah I deal with all the services on a daily basis and know what I'm talking about bar none.

Wow, I thought it was only $300 million. Jesus...
This is what I don't like? What do some of you guys who are in the military think of the spending? We have our own problems at home, including the economy, and spending 400 million in some other country, it makes no sense.

Smart man. My parents always told me, don't talk too much or get in an argument over sex, politics or religions. I sometimes have problems with the last two...

All I am saying is that we should not have this happen to people who served our country overseas. It's just not right.

My boss being a LtCol is in no way being treated bad. He was mainly upset for the guys under him. After a year in the green zone, he felt they deserved better. But like I said, he himself was not hurting...offciers get it far better.

I never said the whole deal was bad, I am simply saying that the military has better facilities than they do. Enlisteds generally don't get the love they have earned and deserve. I don't see why we should accept second best for those coming back from a war or from the current occupation. They simply deserve better.

im not just saying this because i was a marine as i was an army brat growing up but in the marine corps the barracks are from the wwII era. but what that does is show you that you can live without certain things. hot water all the time and stuff like that. little things you dont realize until they are gone. but with all of the money they aere putting into this war they are also fixing alot of things around base. you dont realize how much this stuff costs. an abrams tank, a tomohawk missle, even a handheld javelin are a million+ so realize it is alot of money but it doesnt necessarily buy you a whole lot. youre feeding troop giving them first aid using gas for tanks planes jets trucks and humvees. its alot of money but it doesnt strech a far as you think. and if we did just take care of ourselfs and not look out for the rest of the world we would just be assholes. thats like seeing someone getting beat up or raped and not doing anything. theres a whole world out there that alot of you people wouldnt believe. unless you have been in combat you dont know both sides of the story. just my opinion

IM- wasting your breath trying to explain to those not involved in it. The people who volunteer for the duty are not the ones bitchin and moaning, usually. It is the few malcontents who are looking for someone to listen to them and they will find someone like Cindy Sheehan or Michael Moore to push their point and distort it for their own agenda.

It's true it all costs money...and it all comes from the People. However, it seems to me that the general populace are not sacrificing anything while the fellas who do the fighting sacrifice all. And if you try to raise taxes to fight the war, which I would support...it's war after all...people freak out.

I just can't stand shorting those who serve while those of us who sit and home watching it all on TV sacrifice nothing.

Before Vietnam, Americans realized that they too would sacrifice when war came...now we tell the military to suck it up.

That's pretty weak.
