This kid is claiming to Scout and Rivals that he was offered by ND earlier this week. I've never heard of him up until this point.

"Some new offers like Notre Dame have come in. I get an offer or two on a pretty regular basis. It was a real good spring for me."

From Rivals on Wednesday.

Emeka Nwankwo from Madonna Prep in Hollywood, FL. 6-5, 270 on Scout, 6-3, 285 on Rivals. Rivals lists him with only 10 bench reps.

“My top-five consists of Notre Dame, Virginia, Florida State, Florida, and Georgia. All of them have offered,” Nwankwo said. “My parent’s would like me to go to school close to home, but my dad understands the program at Notre Dame. He really likes the school.

Per Irish Eyes today. If ND landed every kid whose parents love the school, we're talking a minimum 8-peat.

Wow, had not heard anything about this kid. However, he isn't very impressive physically with a 5.34 40 and only 10 bench reps.

Irish Eyes lists him as being bigger, faster and stronger than Irish Illustrated. Take it all for what it is worth, I guess.

Interesting they'd offer another guard from Florida. Is this a fallback for James Wilson?

Also, why offer this guy and not Miles Stroter?

Nwankwo is not in the BGI database.

Well, the Rivals info came from their April 9, 2006 Miami combine.

God, I hope not. Wilson is one of my favorite linemen in this class.

No idea. I don't see why Stroter hasn't been offered. There is just no logical explanation considering we need to take 5 for depth purposes.

Probably for good reason. Hah.

The kid has an ND letter in hand per Pete Sampson

http://notredame.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=554978

Notre Dame made a recruiting impression in South Florida last year on more than Sam Young and Dan Wenger, the pair of offensive linemen from St. Thomas Aquinas that ultimately signed with the Irish. When Charlie Weis headed to the Sunshine State he also caught the eye of Emeka Nwankwo, and now the Hollywood, Fla., standout is giving Notre Dame a serious look.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound offensive guard said he spoke with Weis on June 12 with the Notre Dame head coach telling Nwankwo that he wanted to offer a scholarship. When Nwankwo returned home later that day, the Irish offer was in his mailbox.

"Everything has gone like I thought it would, but the offer from Notre Dame came as a surprise," Nwankwo said. "I didn't think Notre Dame was that interested in me."

Nwankwo said he's been in constant contact with the Irish coaching staff ever since, trading text messages with assistant Bernie Parmalee. With offers from Florida, Florida State, Virginia, Auburn and Georgia, Notre Dame will have top-flight competition for Nwankwo, but the recent offer has put the Irish in a favorable position.

it looks like ND could very well land another florida duo in Emeka Nwankwo and James Wilson, how awsome would that be.

Looked at his video.

He looks bigger and plays bigger than 6-3 for some reason. Pulls pretty well, but could certainly get a little quicker.

This offer has been reported by Scout and Rivals. If it is legit, does this mean ND is passing on Miles Stroter?

I just watched it and I fully agree. He had to have just had a bad combine. I'd gladly take this kid in the next class.
