I don't believe the Irish faithful have anything to worry about, but in the interest of stirring up some conversation during a long week I point your attention to the following: (FYI, Click the link to see an awesome picture of CW as a student).

Could ND's Savior Be Gone After One Year?

The Mighty MJD brings up something we hadn’t thought about: Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis, the “savior” of college football’s most “sainted” program, has a very cheap buyout clause in his contract that would allow him to go to an NFL team for just $1.5 million. That team would have to offer him a head coaching job, of course, but at this point, who wouldn’t?

This would, of course, be the most tragic thing to happen to Notre Dame since, well, someone accidentally let Bob Davie sign a contract. (Honestly, was one of the priests drunk on that one?) This, of course, is against the mission of Weiswatchers, which implies that the only way Weis would leave the Golden Dome would be if he died — a real possibility.

We wish he’d grow that facial hair back though, no matter what.

Charlie would have signed with an NFL team last year if he wanted to. I am not sold on the "Charlie is leaving us" crap! He is going around telling families that I want your son to come to ND to win a title. I feel his ND contract is loaded with incentives anyway. He would look like a fool, if he went to the NFL within the next three years. He preaches finishing the job - so selling out would be a media nightmare for him. Reporters are like bored troublemakers.

This is such a waste of forum space........the best learning experience in the world for Charlie Jr and daughter Hannah is in South Bend. End of story.

As I've said before, biggest concern is his health.

People, mostly haters, are already sh*tting and shaking because of what he's done in a short amount of time. This is wishful thinking for those who can't wait for him to be gone when the new era hasn't even really started yet.

That's right Jigga. They're seeing and saying "Daggum, he's winning and playing like that with that "inferior" talent and look what he's doing in recruiting as well. Consternation, I thought the academics were too hard and no one wanted to go there anymore..... UH-OH...y'all know something, ND just might be back and back sooner than anyone thought"......(except for CDub, of course).

Then why did you contribute to it by responding?

Hopefully to end worthless energy spent here and focus time and effort from alot of really good forum contributors (yourself not included) on worthwhile discussions.

The talking heads on Fox's Around The Horn agreed CW is leaving. Plaschke or Blackistone said, " as soon as he's done riding Quinn". Jay Marriotti "2-3 years" Michael Smith "Sooner than later."

I had never seen this show and now know why. It's geared for Jr HS boys. In your face with little or no substance.

I felt relieved they were trying to stir the pot until I read Lemming's comments in the SBT,

"I can't imagine this is anything but somebody trying to retard Notre Dame's progress in recruiting," Lemming said. "He never looked at this job as a stepping stone. He's a Notre Dame grad with a love for the school, and he plans on staying for a while to develop it into a national power. And then when he does, why would he want to leave? With every experience I've had with him, he seems to be a man of his word. And he hasn't said word one about the NFL."

Now all we need is Corso to guarantee it won't happen.

Or Beano to guarantee two National Championships.

At least they picked a bye week.

Whatever Jay Mariotti says, take your rent/morgage payment and bet the opposite.

You'll retire in less than a year.

You got that right. If and when Mike Francesa starts to say Weis is talking to the Jets or Jints, I'll get nervous. Until then, this is all garbage.

He has pretty much nay-said the White Sox all year long. Mr. Cub, I call him.

He thought that Ken Griffey Jr. was the answer to all of our prayers.

As far as ND goes, he's a bandwagon guy. On and off.
