His visit started today. Any word? I think he'll be a nice lineman prospect... Real big body.

Also, does anyone know if Lorig showed up for the visit?

Love to get Loriq. But it seems like he's staying on the west coast.

Hand is good , he'll be a nice college player, but he has no shot at being an nfl player, he's just too slow at his position. He sghould think about what college he goes tooo.

I wholeheartedly disagree on Hand. 6'4" 300, while that isn't a good DE frame, it is an excellent DT body. He could be a legit run stuffing DT and I won't put it past our new crew to move him inside to stuff the run. Think Ted Washington, Warren Sapp, Gilbert Brown.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like for him to be irish. But I think he lacks the speed to be a DT in the NFL. I think he'll be a fine college DT.

Rivals has him listed as 6'2 298lbs. I don't think any1 knows how he'll be. He plays in the PA catholic school leauge. So he hasn't faced any good competition.

We need him though, always good to get DT's

Free Read Today:

"I don't think I'll commit right then and there," Hand said. "But depending on the trip, I could shortly afterwards. Notre Dame has a pretty good chance. I have high hopes for this weekend. I'm hoping I like it there."

"I haven’t talked to their coaches for a while," the Rolling Hills (Calif.) recruit told Pierson. "I don't think it would be a decision I would make, to go to Notre Dame. So, I think I’m done with my trips. It's those four, UCLA, USC, Cal and Stanford."

Just to update my Lorig question.

(you mean Lorig)

I will say this: Weis has been brilliant when it comes to getting a kid who wants to play offense and is looking at four California schools to consider being a defensive end at Notre Dame. With today's acquisition of Hord, I now think anything is possible. But Lorig is one of the three 'stretches,' along with Cushing and Jackson.

As for Hand, we should land him...

I'm from PA and the Catholic league is the elite league in Philadelphia. If this kid is getting props from major schools in the nation, that's huge. All of the best players in the Philadelphia area play Catholic league ball. All of the teams recruit kids from the City. To say he hasn't played any good compitition is from lack of knowledge of the area! :eek:hwhateve

Is it true he scored an 880 on his SAT? Can an 880 get you into ND? I was just wondering because it said no retest next to the 880 score.

Expected, but still nice!

We are now in the realm of a truly decent recruiting class, even if we lose Nelson. Roche, Williams, and Wilson are still serious candidates. We have at least three kids we're talking to about playing defensive back. And we have a running back prospect that may prove more serious then we first realized. Things are looking pretty good now.

Scout.com currently has ND's class ranked at #22. I think we can break into the top 20...Could we possibly hit #15?

This class right now is better then last years class. We have all quality guys on the team, they may be 3 star guys but if you look at there rankings there pretty high.

Sharpley ranks12th on rivals
nelson 6th with lemming
hord 11th on rivals
duncan 17th on Lemming
Turkovich 29th on rivals
bruton 22nd on scout
washington 32nd on rivals
Smith 16th on rivals
herring 46th on rivals
kuntz 24th with lemming
hand 40th on rivals
Swhaap 21st with lemming
Hiben 9th on rivals
grimes 63rd on rivals

Hiben, Sharpley, Nelson, Smith, Turk, and Duncan, are pretty close in the rankings to being 4 star guys.

Having all our players nationally ranked is very very good, were bringing in a very quality class. I know theres alot of 3 star guys but you could be a guy who ranks 60th at your position and still be a 3 star guy, most of our commits our highly ranked at there positions. You could say most of our guys are the first tier of 3 star guys.

Last years class dissappointed me, so many guys who didn't even rank at there positions. class was full of 2 star guys.

This year all our commits are nationally ranked at there positions. I'm amazed that Weis coaching for a super bowl just putting a staff together is doing a better job already recruiting then Ty was.

Shows you just how bad of a recruiter Ty was.

This staff is amazing in how they go after guys they want. Ty didn't love ND and couldn't sell the school to HS kids. Weis and his staff love ND and it shows to these kids.

Another big feather to put in Willingham's cap. That middle defensive line should be solid for years. Hope no one thinks that running it up the middle is gonna be the way to beat the Irish just b/c of all the front 7 graduates, those two DT's are gonna clog up that line real good. I am so excited, I can't wait for next season.
